MEDICINE-BOTTLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 3, 1906 Application filed September 21, 1905. Serial No, 279,414.

' Be it known that I, LOUIS PEROTTI, a citizen of the United States, residing at Newark,
- in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Medicine-Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention pertains to improvements in medicine-bottles, and more particularly to a combination medicine-bottle and medicine measurer or distributer.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which similar referenceletters denote corresponding parts, and in which Figure 1 is an elevation of the bottle, the neck part, serving as a liquid distributer or measurer, being shown in longitudinal section with the valve therein closed, as seen in direction of the arrows in Fig. 3. Fig. 2 is a similar section of the liquid distributer' or measurer, showing the valve therein open; and Fig. 3 is a cross-section through line a: a: of Fig. 1.
With reference to the drawings, a is the bottle, and 1) its peculiarly-shaped neck, which is adapted to serve as a liquid distributer or measurer. At the bottom the neck has an outwardly-projecting flange c, which is provided with an inner groove (1. The neck has on its circumference a graduation. The outer end 6 of the neck receives an ordinary stopper f. The flange c has a slot 9 leading from the groove d to the outside, and through the said slot a plate or disk 71, of suitable material, as glass, hard rubber, or the like, which will tightly fit in the groove d, is inserted. The disk 'i is provided in the center with an opening 7', adapted to be closed up by a suitable valve 76, as a slidevalve, or, as shown, by a disk capable of turning vertically. A suitable handle Z is fixed to the valve so as to project outward and allow the opening or closing thereof at wish. When the valve 7c is turned upright, as shown in Fig.
2, and the bottle reversed, the liquid will be allowed to flow into the longer part of the neck and fill the latter to the desired extent and upon removing the stopper f canbe discharged into the mouth of the patient with out using a spoon or the like.
The bottle, with the liquid-distributer, is formed of an integral piece of glass, and the valve seat or plate 71 may be made, as stated above, of glass, hard rubber, or any other suitable material.
It will be understood that instead of the valve shown and specified any other suitable valve arrangement may be used without departing from the spirit of my invention.
What I claim, and desire to secure byLetters Patent, is-
1. A combination bottle and liquid-distributer comprising a bottle having a neck adapted to serve as a liquid-distributer, and being provided on its circumference with a graduation, avalve at the bottom of the neck, said valve being adapted to be controlled from the outside, the outer end of the neck or the liquid-distributer bearing an ordinary stopper, substantially and for the purpose as specified.
2. A combination bottle and liquid-distributer comprising a bottle having a neck with a graduation on its circumference, said neck being adapted to serve as a liquid-distributer, a flange at the bottom of the neck having an inner groove and a slot leading from the latter outward, a plate fitting in said groove and having an opening, a valve to close up said opening and means to control the opening and closing of said valve from the outside, substantially and for the purpose as specified.
