UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HERMANN SAUER AND CONSTANZE SAUER, OF LI IBECK, GERMANY.
DEVICE FOR HANGING WALL-MIRRORS, PICTURES, AND THE LIKE.
Specification of- Letters Patent.
Patented May 15, 1906.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, HERMANN SAUER and OONSTANZE SAUER, residents of Lubeck, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Devices for Hanging Wall-Mirrors, Pictures, and the Like, of which the following is a s ecification.
The subject of this invention is a device for hanging wall-mirrors, pictures, blackboards, and so on; and the object of the same is, on the one hand, to do away with the cords and the like hitherto in use and to hang up the said articles rapidly and securely and, on the other hand, to keep them always automatically in the right position.
In the main the lnvention consists of three chains joined together at one of their ends. Two of these chains are of equal length and are at their other ends provided with devices for fastening them to the object to be hung for instance, with screw-plateswhile the third may be of any len th and is hung at its other end upon the wall- 00k. The material used for the chains and the shape of the links and other parts may vary. Preferably, however, flat plate-like pieces are used for the chains to allow of hanging the object close against the wall.
On the accom anying drawing a form of construction of t e device is shown.
Part a serves to hang the whole upon the Wall-hook. According to Whether the link a or a or the intermediate links are used for this purpose, the object may be hung more or less high, as required. The parts I) are fastened to the object. are of equal length and provided at their free ends with plates 12, which can be screwed to the mirror, picture-frame, and the like or fastened to the same in any other suitable way. At b the parts I) and b are united by a pivoted connection of any suitable kind. The joint shown in the drawing is a hinge-joint. By means of this device the said objects can be hung rapidly and securely upon the wallhook and, moreover, be easily adjusted to hang straightly on the walls.
What we claim as our invention, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent, is
In a device for hanging mirrors, pictures and the like, in combination three chains united at one of their ends, two of which chains are of equal length, means adapted to be secured to a frame and connections pivoted to said means and connected to said chains, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof we have signed our names to this specification in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
