Figure 2 is a vertical transverse section of the same, taken on the plane of the line z ze, iig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts.
This invention relates to a new instrument, which can be attached to the bootor shoe, and which can be used as an ice or mountain-creeper, vand also as a spur.
` The invention consists in pivoting to the sides oi" an ordinary or suitable spur a bow-shaped bar or plete, with teeth on one side. Said plate or bar can be` either turned forward under the sole of the boot or shoe, to be used as a creeper, or it can be folded back over the heel, when it will be out of the way, the whole instrumentbeing then only a spur. By means of a suitable fastening-device the how can be locked to the spur in either` position. I l
A, in Athe drawings, represents the bow-shaped bar of a spur, attached to a boot or shoe in any suitable manner. i.
B is the spur, attached to the bow A. Y
C is a how-shaped bar or plate, pivoted at its ends to near the ends of the bar A. It hasxteeth, a a, pro# jecting from one side, or has that side toothed or roughened in any suitable manner.
It can be turned under the sole of the boot or shoe, as shown in red lines in iig'. 1, when it will constitute the creeper, as shown, or it can he folded hack over the heel, as shown by black lines in fig. 1. In the latter case the bar- C can be folded out of the way, the whole instrument being a spur.
D is a spring-plate, projecting from one portion oi' the bar A, and having a projecting pin, b, which its into'either one of two apertures, c d, bored or formed through a part of the plate C. The said plate or bm` C will thus be locked n either position, and can only be disengaged from the lock by drawing the pin'b out of the aperture aforosaidfin the manner indicated by red lines in iig. 2.
Any other device or means for locking the bar C may, however, be lemployed with equal advantage, and I` do not confine myself to this particular plate D 'and pin b.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as'riew, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A combined spur and creeper, made and operating substantially as h erein shown and described..
