Application Iliod August 19,1905. Serial No. 274,852.
re `1 is a num er of the placed.A in a receptacle.
-showing a ortion of onel of; the divisionplates and i lustrating the tablet-holder conf' nected thereto. Fig. 3 is a transverse section of a division plate and tablet -holder,
yillustrating the manner of placing thetablet in position with reference to the holder. Fig. 4 is a detached view of the tablet-holder, showing a portion of the spring back plate broken away. Fig. 5 is a transverse section showing .a ortion di one of the vdivisionplates 'and i lustrating the tablet-holder con nected thereto and al tablet placed in proper position. Fig. is a View showing a portion of a divisionlate and illustrating the bach of the tabletolder, also showing the back side ofthe tablet.
The present invention has relation to division-plates and tablet-holders adapted to facilitate the distribution or arrangement of documents, such as checks-notes, 'invoices' and such other papers as are commonly kept in files. I
Similar'numerals oireference indicate corresponding parts in all ythe figures of the drawings,
In the accompanying drawingarepresents a suitable receptacle, which may be of any desired size or of any desired construction, inasmuch 'as the receptacle desi ned to con? tain the division-plates and ta let-holders forms no particular part of the present inven-v tion. The division-plates 2`may of course be` of any desired size, reference being had to their various uses and to the size of the receptacle into which they are to be placed, as
l To the division-plates 2 are attached the tablet-holders proper, which tablet-holders consist of the springplatcs 3, which spring-plates are formed integral with the holders'at their lower edges; 5
but their top edges and their ends are severed or cut from the body of the holder,
lthereby allowing the plates to be sprung away from the holder proper for the purpose of placing the tablets 4 in osition, this fean ture being illustrated in ig. 3. For the purpose of exposing to view the letters,4 names, or numbers upon. the front iacesof the tablets 4 the forward or front face of the holder is open, as' best illustrated in Figs, 1 and 2L it will be understood that when the tablets 4 are brought iiito their normal position the spring back plates?) will assist in holding `the tabletsagainst any lateral movement,y
owing to the factthat 'the tablets are located between the front faces of the s ring back plates and the back faces of t e holders proper or against the back flanges 5", which ac flanges constitute an integral part of the tablet-holders proper. For the purpose of preventing any accidental displacement o the tablets 4. the holders are provided with the an led flanges 6, which angled flanges are locate at the ends and tops ofthe holder. For the purpose oi increasing the/elasticity' of the upper portions oi the holders the metal is out or severed, as indicated at 7, said cutsy beingA located at the lower cornerspf the iront opening'. The object and purpose o roviding the cuts or severs 7 and thereby increasing the elasticity of the upper portion of the tablet-holder, are to allow said holder to' be sprung or moved away from the spring back plate 3 and provide sufficient clearance to easily remove the tablets. For the purpose ofA assisting in holding the lower edges oi' the tablet's'the holders are provided with they tangs A8, which tangs are so located that they will engage the bottom or lower edges of said tablet. l'
It will be understood that by providing the angled anges 6 they form a protection 'for the ends and up er edges of the tablets after the tabletshave' een placedin roperrelative position with reference to the elders. the event the holders proper are formed separate from the division-plates 2, their lower ortions are provided with suitable attach: ingtangs9, which tangs may be located as shown or they may be differently located, as. their only object is to connect the holders to the plates; but it is evident that the plates.
and holders may he l'ornxed integral und the seme obj eet accomplished.
In use the tablets may be so lettered or numbered is to form or produce en index, thereby rendering it easy to arrange such drafts7 notes, orv invoices in suoli :i manner and with reference to the labels that any particular n. e1' een be easily `found.
