SOPHIE MEYER. OF NEW YORK, N.
ENSTEIN, EDWIN FRANKENSTE YORK, N. Y.
Y., ASSIGNOR To ARTHUR FRANK- IN, AND SAMUEL BUYER, or NEW BACK AND BUST. SUPPORTER- Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented April 10, 190,6,
Application am, 10, 19 5. Serial No. 259,725.
Be it known that I, SOPHIE MEYER, a resident of New York city, borou h of Manhattan, county and State of New 'ork, have invented certain new and useful Im rovements" in Back and Bust Supporters, 0 which the following is a specification.
1 This invention relates to an improved back and bust supporter adapted for use in con-' nection with ordinary corsets, and has for its rovide a device'of this character which wili be simple and inex ensiveand which will effectively erform the functions 0 these ends the invention comprises the novel features of improvement and details of -construction,-which will be hereinafter described, and finally set forth in the claims.
Reference is to be had to'the accompany ing drawings, forming 'part ofthis specification, where1n I Figure 1 is a perspective view of aback and bust supporter embodying my improvements. Fig. 2 1s a perspective view thereof as seen from the front, and. Fig. 3 is aperspective view thereof asseen from the rear.
Referring to the drawings, 1 indicates the flexible or 'eldable back-sup orter, the same being pre erably made of e astic webbing. Attached thereto are bust-supporters 2 2, the
same. being made of any'suitable fabric, but
nonlastic as compared with the back-supporter. The top edge of the back-supporter 1s provided with a non-elastic binding 1*, and
porters I attach shoulder-straps 3 3, it being the lower edge thereof is provided with a slightly-yielding binding 1*. To the said supobvious that the same aid materially in keep ing the supporters in position.
One of protruding over the The protrusion of of the corset is an a back-sup orter formed 9 dered non-elastic at its top,
the main-ob ects of this invention is to prevept the'flesh from back-su porter 1 from yielding, and, as will be seen om Fig. 3, the top of the corset will be at about the, osition A. When the supporter as a who e is clasped to the body in "proper position, either bylacing or clasps at the lowerportion B of the the ends -5 and 6, back-supporter 1 is yieldable to a limited extent to permit of lung expansion, while the top ort1 onC,bein comparativelynon-yieldby reason of t e non-elastic binding 1 and tape 4, will tend to force the flesh back and away from the edge of the corset. The bust-supporters 2 2 perform their usual function at the front. In order to assist the bustsupporters 2 inmaintaining their shape and to aid them in their said supporters 2 2 with a flexible rib or stay 7, which I. ew into them. The supporter also acts as a corset-cover and prevents the corset from showing through the outer garment'.
function, I provide the Having now described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by LettersPat- 1. A back and bust su a back-supporter forme of an elastic strip, means for rendering said strip non-elastic at its u per edge, bust-supporters secured to said back-supporter and means for securing said supporter as a whole about the body.
2. A back and bust supporter, comprising porter, comprising an elastic strip, a-
non-yielda le binding secured along the up' per edge of the strip whereby same is renbust-supporters secured to said back-supporter and means for securing said supporter 'as a whole about the body.
3. A back and bust su porter, comprising a. back-supporter formed of an elastic strip having its upper portion formed of a pair of segments meeting centrally of the strip and provided along their edges with a nonyieldable binding whereby the upper'portion of the elastic stripis rendered substantially nonyieldable, bust-su porters secured to said back-supporter an means for securing said support as a whole about the body.
