Description

PATENTED APR. 10, 1906. J. M. TROSELJ'.
HAMMOGK SUPPORT! APPLIOATION FILED DEO.13,1905.
Wifnaaoeo 'mMOZGW/M M W 49 w? JOHN MARK TROSELJ, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND.
HAMMocK-suPPoR Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented April 10, 1906.
Application filed December 13. 1905. Serial No. 291,548.
To LIZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN MARK TROSELJ, a citizen of Austria-Hungary, residing at Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hammock-Supports, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my said invention is to provide an inexpensive portable frame for supporting hammockswhich may be folded into a compact package and conveniently carried from place to place and one which will at the same time be rigid and serviceable in use, all as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, which are made a part hereof, and on which similar reference-letters indicate similar parts, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a hammocksupport of my improved construction, showing a hammock thereon; Fig. 2, a view of said frame folded with the hammock folded around it, as when it is ready for transportation; Fig. 3, a detail view of one of the legs, and Fig. 4 a detail view of one of the braces for the feet.
In said drawings the portions marked A represent the legs of the frame, and B the hammock. Said frame is composed of two legs A, which are duplicates one of the other and each of which is composed of a bar of the required strength, formedin two parts and hinged together by a hinge a. When the frame is in position for use the legs A are secured together on apivot a. At the upper end each of said legs has aloop a attached thereto adapted to receive the rope to support the hammock. At the lower end each leg is provided with hinged foot-pieces A, one being hinged to eachside of each leg by means of a hinge (1?. Each foot-piece is formed to extend back from the leg at angle, so that when folded back it will rest against the side of said leg and parallel therewith. A brace a is interposed between each of said feet and the side of the leg to which it is pivoted, one end being adapted to engage with a notch a in the top of the foot and the other end with a notch a in the side of the leg. By this means each foot-piece may be held to eXtend at right angles to the leg and furnish a wide and rigid base upon which the frame may rest and afford sufficient support to the hammock. This construction is not only inexpensive to make, but rigid and serviceable in use, convenient to knock down or put up, and light to carry, having comparatively few parts. When it is desired to move the frame from place to place, said pivot a is removed, the legs separated, and the two parts thereof folded against each other, the braces a removed, the feet A folded back against each side of the lower end of each leg, and the hammock folded around the frame, as shown in Fig. 2, thus reducing the whole frame to a very small and compact package which may be conveniently carried by hand from place to place.
Having thus fully described my said invention, what I claim'as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1 Ahammock-support comprising aframe, composed of two legs, each of which is formed in two parts hinged'together and at its lower end has a hinged foot extending transversely each way therefrom, and a brace adapted to engage between each of said feet and the side of the leg, substantially as set forth.
2. Ahammock-support comprising a frame, composed of two legs pivoted to ether, each of said legs being composed 0 two parts hinged together and having a foot-piece hinged to each side thereof at its lower end, a brace connected with each foot-piece and eX- tending back to. engage with the side of said leg, and a hammock-support at the top end of said leg, substantially as set forth.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal, at Washington, District of Columbia, this 18th day of November, A. D. 1905.
JOHN MARK TROSELJ.
