TO ALL WHOM IT vMAYI CONCERN:
Be it'known that I, JofNFAssAUER, of Wheelng, in the county'of Marion, and State ot' Iowa, have invented anew and improved Churn; and I do hereby declare thatv the following is a. full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of'this specification.
v This invention relates to 'a new and improved churn of that class which are provided with, rotating dashes, and it consists in a. novel construction of the dash, 4 asl hereinafter fullyshown and described. l
' In the'accompanying sheet of drawings- I Y Figure 1 is a vertical section of my invention, taken in the line a: w, tig. 2. Figaro 2, a plan or top view of the same.
Figure aplan or top view f the beaters, the dash-rod being inl section, as indicated by the line y y. Figure 4 is a. perspective view, showing the construction of the rotary dasher. Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A represents a cream-box, of quadrilateral form, and provided'iwit-h` a. lid, composed of two parts, a a. B
is the dash-rod, which is ifttedvertically and centrally'in'the box A, the lower end of the dash-rod being fitted in a bearing formed at b,- in the hottoinot the churn, and the upper end ot' said rod having a bevel-pinion, C, upon it, into which a. bevel-wheel, D, gears, the latter being 'on a horizontal shaft, E, which is fitted in a, frame, F, attached to the part q of the lid of.V the box A. The upper end of the dash-rod has-its bearing in one side of this'frame F, and the shaft E isvtu'rned by a crank, G, and motion thereby given the dash-rod. I
Y In the upper part of. the dash-rod there are tted two bars, H H7, which pass through the rod so as to forin acute angles with each other. One face ofthe bar H is bevelled as seen in iig. 1.` The vbar H is made in two parts, which are fixed inopposte sides of the shaft B. One side ofv each'part of the bar is convex,'wl1'ile4 the other is plane, andthe semi-bars are so arranged in the shaftthat the plane and convex faces of theoneare at right angles to ,the correspontlingrfaces' ofthe other, as will be clearly understood by reference to g. 4. Below the bars Il H two sets of parallel bars, c d and c d', pass through the shaft, projecting equally on each side. The bars c d are fitted between the barsc d, and at rightangles thereto. 'The extremities ofthe bars col are connectedv together by strips c, as are also the/ends of the bars cf d. These strips e are bevclled on one face, and perforated atf. The perforation'sf of the strips attached to the barsc d', are not in line withthe openingsin the strips connecting the bars' d, all o'which will be seen by reference to fig. L A
By constructing the dash-rod in this' manner, the cream is agitatedso as to cause the butter to be quickly produced. y v I V l Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The dash-'er constructed .as described, and consisting oi'l the radial arms HTI', c d, e d', and Yertical con jnecting slats c, perforated ntf, all arranged upon the vertical shaft B, to operate as herein set forth.
