Description

No. 811,629. PATENTED FEB. 6, 1906. E. B. FRENCH. COMBINED CURTAIN POLE AND SHADE ROLLER SUPPORT. IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII Alm 1905.
Mtv]HHHHHUWIIHM....n
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDSON B. FRENCH, OF HELENA, MONTANA.
Specicaton of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 6, 1906.
Application iiled. March 6,1905. Serial No. 248,637.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDsoN B. FRENCH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Helena, in the county ol Lewis and Clark and State oi Montana, have invented a new and useful Combined Curtain-Pole and Shade- Roller Support, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to combined window-curtain and shade-roller supports, and has for its object to produce a simply-constructed and easily-applied device of this character which may be adj ustably attached to a Window and adapted Yfor curtain-poles and shade-rollers oi various lengths.
With these and other objects in view, which will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in certain novel 'features oi construction, as hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, forming a part ol this speciiication, and in which correspending parts are denoted by like designating characters, is illustrated the preferred form of embodiment of the invention capable of carrying the same into practical operation, it being understood that the invention is not necessarily limited thereto, as various changes in the shape, proportions, and gen eral assemblage of the parts may be resorted to without departing from the principle of the invention or sacrificing any oi' its advantages..
In the drawings thus employed, Figure 1 is a perspective view of one of the improved devices applied. FiT 2 is a perspective view of the two parts oithe device disconnected.
Fig. 3 is a view oi the blank strip from which the supporting member of the improved device is constructed.
The improved device comprises a plate or strip 10 of suitable metal and having a longitudinal slot 11 to receive the holding-screw 12 vfor fastening adjustably to the windowcasing, a portion of which is represented at 13.
Two ofthe plates will be employed, one at each side oi the Window but as they are substantially alike, except that they are rights and lefts, one only is shown Jfor illustration.
Each of the plates is provided at the inner end with a lateral clip or bend 14 for bearing beneath the casing and with a curtain-roller bracket 15, extending laterally and in the oppositedirection from the other end, the
having an open hook or loo roller-brackets having the usual bearings for the curtain-roller journals. Between the brackets 15 and the body of the plate 1() is a vertical socket 16, bent therein upon one side and with an integral tongue 17 extending transversely of the socket and 'forming a closure to the open side oi the same. l A standard 18 is supported in the vertical socket and against which the tongue 17 bears to maintain it in position, the l'ree end of the bracket 19 to support a curtain-p0le and with a s ioulder 20 near the terminal for supportin a curtain-pole by entering cavities therein w ien required. By this means two methods oi supporting a curtain-pole is provided to provide 'for the two forms usually em loyed.
With this simplle device it is obvious that curtain-polesl or curtain-shade rollers of any length or size may be supported from a window ol any size or width, thus avoiding the necessity for cuttin the shades or poles when changing from win ow to window.
The plate member 1() will preferably be struck up from sheet metal of suitable kind and gage in the form represented in Fig. 3 and then bent into the required shape. The standard member 1S is formed 'from a single piece of wire bent into the required shape. The members 10 and 18 may be plated, bronzed, 0r otherwise ornamented or protected, as re uired.
Having thus escribed the invention, what is claimed is- 1. The herein-described device comprising a plate having means for attachment to a window and with one end bent laterally for bearing beneath the window-casing and with a curtain-shade-roller bracket extending laterally Yfrom the other end and with a .vertical socket between the bracket and plate, and a standard supported in said socket and having means at its free end for supporting a curtain-pole.
2. The herein-described device comprising a plate having means for attachment to a window and with one end bent laterally for bearing beneath the window-casing and with a curtain-roller bracket extending laterally 'from the other end and a vertical socket between the plate and bracket, and a standard sup orted in said socket and having means at its tree end i'or supporting a curtain-pole.
3. The herein-described device comprising a plate having means for attachment to a IOO Window and With one end bent laterally for bearing beneath the window-easing and With a curtain-roller bracket extending laterally from the other end and a Vertical socket between the plate and bracket and With one side open, a standard supported in said socket and provided with means at the free end for supporting a curtain pole, and a tongue extending from said plate transversely of said socket and bearing upon the 1o standard supported therein.
In testimony that I Claim the foregoing as my own Iphave hereto afHXed my signature n the presence of tWo Witnesses.
