Application filed August l, 1905. Serial No. 272,269.
new and useful lmprovementsfin Buttons, of
which the following is a. specification.
This invention relates to improvements in buttons or" the type having two Shanks.
The object of the invention is to provide means Ifor quickly attaching the button to a pair or" trousers, with one Shank extending outwardly and another inwardlyfto be engaged by simil devices attached to a pair of sus endors end to an undergarment.
l. hile the invention is intended to support en undlergarlafford means for coperetion with s peir oi Suspenders, it is not limited in its purpose.
Other obieets and advantages will be hereinefter referred to, und particularly pointed out in the cleims.
ln the drawings, Figure 1 is a vertical section showing, my invention in practical use. Fig. 2 is a perspective viewillustrating the parts seperated. Fig. 3 is a horizontal section on the line B 3, Fig. 1.
The seme numerals refer to like ports in all the figures.
ts e button-plate provided with oppositeljd projections 2 end 3, having heads e end For convenience in de scribing the invention and emphesizinqfg` the same in the claims will hereinafter roter to these rejections as 4inner7 and outerv ere forced throuffh the material and crimped down on the code of the buttonlate as Shown clearly in Fig. 1.
ln connection with the buttonplete I utilize tivo shenleengeging members 11 end 12. Each olf these members 1s exactly alike,
and a description of one will sufice for the other. A member consists of e disk 13, formed with an opening 14 of such Size es will permit the passage of the head of one of the Shanks, Yand a spring-lock 15, formed with an opening 16 and opereting in Ways 15* and in connection with a Spring 18. The nwmber 12 is a plied to the tab 2() of a Suspender, end
the ot er member 11 is epplied to the band of an undergarment 21 in any suitable msnnel.
In use the head ofv shank 6 is forced through en opening 21 in the garment and the opening in member 11, which forces its look out of the Way, and immediately the heed is passed the spring18 forces the lock' beck to its normal iosition. lThe shank 6 therefore supports 't 1e undergermcnt, and the lock prevents its falling. The other Shank 7 passes through thel suspender-buttonhole 20'l and the opening. 14 oi the mem-A her 10 in exrctly the same manner.` Hence the suspender is looked against accidentel dis lacement.
his invention is extremely simple in construction 'and is admirably adapted for securingr an undcrgnrment and affording e convenient and sato means for fastening suspenders to a pair of trousers.
By reason oi the simplicity of the structure the invention een be quickly'applied and made ready for use.
What l claim ism 1. In combination, a button-plate provided with oppositoly-disposed Shanks formed With heads, means for securing the button-plete to a garment, and spring-actuated locking" mombers cooperating with the shanks andheld in place by the heads.
2. in combination, a button-plate provided with oppositely disposed Shanks formed with heads, a holdlng-plate formed with prongs'V IOO button-plate''fo a germent, a. locking -plate n testimony whereof I aHX my signature formed With, an opening and an adjacent in presence of the subscribing Witnesses.
spring-actuated lock Whieheoperates with 4 lEZEKIEL ZECKHAUSER. one shank, and a second locking-plate formed Witnesses:
5 with an o ening and en adjacent sprng-ae- C, E. HELLER,
tuatedloc which eoperates with the second l T. J. ROBINSON,
.shank E. M. DE WALT.
