B. RAUDNI-TZ.
GLOVE FASTENER No. 433,696. Patented Aug. 5, 1890.
- longitudinal UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ELIAS RAUDNITZ, OF PRAGUE, BOHElV IIA, AUSTRIA-HUN GARY.
G LOVE-=FASTENER'.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 433,696, dated August 5, 1890. Application filed March 12, 1890- Serial No. 343,634. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ELIAS RAU'DNITZ, of Prague, (Carolinenthah') in the Kingdom of B0- hemia, Austria-I'Iungary, have invented new and usefullmprovements in Glove-Fasteners, also applicable as a fastener for garments, pocket-books, purses, and other similar articles, of which the followingis a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention has for its object to remedy certain defects in fastening devices by the manufacture of a fastener which lies flat upon the glove, which can be readily hooked in and out of position without trouble or inconvenience, which has an elegant appearance, is durable, and can be made at a very low price.
The accompanying drawings illustrate my improved fastening device.
Figure 1 is a plan view of the fastener, showing it both opened and closed, Fig. 2 being a section, Fig. 3 a side view, and Fig. 4 an inverted plan view, of the same, all on a larger scale. Figs. 5 and 5 are respectively a top and side view of the single eyelet, and Fig. 6 is a side sectional View of the button and fastening-eyelet without head.
This improved fastener, which is stamped out of a metal sheet, consists of the spring button, nipple, or stud a, which, with the tail 0 and the upper part of the fastening-eyelet b, is stamped out of one piece of metal. (See Fig. 6.) The round plates d, forming the glove-knots, are firmly attached to the nipple a and eyelet Z). The nipple a is closed below and eircumferentially recessed or grooved at a. It is, moreover, slotted crosswise below at a and thus this part is rendered elastic and acts resiliently when pressed in position. The eyelet Z1 is inserted in the glove in the usual well-known manner employed in eyeleting, the eyelet f being similarly secured in the other side of the glove-opening at such a distance from the former a may be easily inserted in the eyelet fiwhich is wider at its upper opening, so that, owing to the elasticity of the nipple and to the narrowing of the eyelet f, the former may snap into the latter and form a secure fastening therewith.
The opening of this improved fastener is equally easy, as the nipple needs only to be raised to yield or spring together, and thus release it from the eyelet This improved fastener is equally applicable to fastening parts of garments, pocketbooks, portfolios, purses, cigar-cases, and other similar articles.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Let ters Patent of the United States, is
In a glove-fastener, the combination, with the tail 0, made integral with the fasteningeyelet Z), and the button or nipple a, grooved or recessed eircumferentially at a and slotted crosswise at. (t to act as a spring, of the heads (I, clamped on the outer ends of the nipple a and eyelet b, substantially as herein shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two witnesses.
ELIAS RAUDNITZ.
