JAMES E. MOBETH, OF NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA.
IMPROVEMENT IN THIMBLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 80,755, dated August 4, 1858.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JAMES E. MCBETH, of New Orleans, in the parish of Orleans, and in the State of Louisiana, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Thimbles; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exactdescription thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
My invention consists in constructing a thimble in such amanner that less material is used in. the formation; that the finger is not injured by the use thereof, and to prevent the perspiration of the finger. The main portion of my thimble is provided with a series of openings, of any desired shape, and at the lower end of which is a circumferential rim, which is directly above the usual needle indentations.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawings, which form a part of this specification.
