Be it known that I, `BAKER VN AUSDALL, of Keokuk, in the county of Lee,.and State ofIowa, have inventeda new and useful Improvement in'Solesfor Boots and Shoes; andIdo hereby declare that the following is-a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which ivill'enable thoseskilled in the art to make and use they same, reference being had-to the accompanying plate of drawings, and tothe letterssof reference marked thereon, forming v part of this specification.
The present invention'consists in making the outside or wearing-sole o f a. boot or shoe'of wood, and in o. seriesl of sectionsror parts, from the ball of the foot to the back ofthe heel, whereby a dexble sole lis obtained.

Having thus described myrinvention, I claim as nem-and desire to secure by Letters Patent- As a. new 'articlevof manufacture, a exible wooden 'boot-sole and heel, formed of independent `serti'ogls of wood riveted to the leather inner sole, as herein described, for the purpose specified.
