Be it known that I, LEWIS H. BAKE, of Tarrytown, in 'the county of Westchester, and State of New York, have invented a new and improved Convertible Lounge; and I do hereby declare that the: following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make andfuse thesame, reference being had to the acoompanying'drawings, forming part of this specification.

i This invention relates to the consti-notion of lounges or sofas, whereby they are made to serve various purposes, und are made much more convenient es an artioleof household furniture than the ordinary kind; and

it consists in so formingthe lounge, and combining the parts of which it is composed, that provision `is made for forming aV double bed,4 with space for the bed-clothing when not used as a bed, and for an adjustable washl stand and drawer, as will be hereinafter more fully described. w

Figure l-is a longitudinal view o f the lounge, which, as represented, lappears' the same as `the ordinary `furniture-lounge.4

Figure 2 represents the lounge open, as when being prepared as a double bed.

Figure 8 is a view ofthe head endvof thelounge, as when open, and with the adjustable wash-standextended and ready for use.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.

The body of the lounge is formed in two longitudinal parts or sections, which are' hinged together at the back side, so that thebaclc of'. thelounge A caribe thrown back, as represented in fig. 2..

` B are the hinges by which these parts are connected. Y i 4 C is the lower or stationary-part, to which the legs C ot' the lounge, are attached.

D is another section, which is enclosed in C .when the lounge isA closed up, but `which is hinged to the front of C; so that it can be turned over in front when the part A is turned back, as represented in gs. 2 and 3.

This head-piece is supported by stay-rods, g, which-are so formedfthat whenthe head-piece is thrownfbaclr it is supported on shoulders formed on the rods, 'which bear outhe top of the part D,sub`stantially,as seen.
