CURTAIN-HANGER.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 785,560, dated March 21, 1905.

Application filed August 4, 1904. Serial No. 219,471.

To all whom, it may concern.-

Be it known that I, ABRAM LA RUE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Danville, in the county of Montour and State of Pennsylvania, have made a certain new and useful Invention in Curtain-Hangers; and I declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact desoription of the same, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

Figure l is a perspective view of the invention holding a shade and showing the curtainpole supports. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the left side bracket with the curtain-pole holder detached. Fig. 3 is aplan viewof the blank of the body portion of the bracket as stamped out in metal integrally.

The invention relates to fixtures for hanging curtains and shades; and it consists in the construction and novel combinations of parts, as hereinafter set forth.

In the accompanying drawings, the letter a designates a transverse bar or slat, usually made of wood and of sufficient length to span the window and hold the curtain. It may be secured to the windowframe by nails or screws.

6 represents metallic holder or bracket, which is slidably adjustable on the bar a. This bracketlconsists of the body 0, having the slidelugs d, which are bent in reverse to embrace the edges of the bar a, said lugs d having rear vertical arms (2 for this purpose. Stamped out of the body at the inner end thereof is the shade-holding flange e, which is at right angles to said body.

Extending outward from the body 6 at the outer end thereof is the arm f, which is bent at right angles and reversely at its terminal portion to form the curtain-holding flange g. This flange is provided at its end with a channel-bearing h, extendingvertically and adapted to engage the long clamp-hook 70 of the pole-holder m. This pole-holder is comparatively delicate, being made of metal strip in U form, having the long reversed bracingcla'mp hook-arm in rear and composed of upward and downward extending branches is, lying close together and embracing the channel-bearing h. It can be readily detached from the bracket for convenience in use or for protection in'shipment. The center holding flange is designed to be a little larger than the shade-holding flange in order that the curtain shall be held a proper distance in front of the shade.

The bracket 6 is designed to be stamped from a single piece of sheet metal.

Having described the invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,

1. The curtain-holding and shade-holding fixture, consisting of a bracket having reverse 7 extending slide-lugs embracing a supportingbar, a forward inner shade-holding extension, and a forward outer vertical extension parallel to said inner extension and provided with a vertical channel-bearing at its free end, and a detachable pole-holder having a rear hookarm engaging said channel-bearing and composed of upward and downward extending branches lying close together and adapted to embrace said channel-bearing, substantially as specified.

2. The curtain-holding and shade-holding fixture consisting of a slidable bracket composed of an integral body stamped from a single piece of sheet metal and having reverselybent slide-lugs for engagement with a supporting-bar, an outward-bent shade-holding lug struck from said body at one end thereof, and an outward-bent terminal extension having a reversely-bent vertical channel-bearing at its free end, and a detachable pole-holder having a rear vertical hook-arm engaging said channelbearing. substantially as specified.

3. The curtain-holding and shade-holding fixture provided with a shadeholding extension and having a second extension provided With a reversely-bent vertical channel-bearing at its free end, and a detachable pole-holder having a rear hook-arm engaging said channelbearing and composed of upward and downward extending branches lying" close-together and adapted to embrace said channel-bearing, substantially as specified.
