TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I MARY E. Mom, of Rouses Point, in the county of Clinton, and State of Neyr York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Necrosoters'; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, aud exact description thereof, which will enable 'others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- The drawing represents a perspective view of my improved necrosoter when in use.
The object of this invention isto preserve a corpse from decomposition before burial.
It consists of a rubber case or envelope for holding ice, and provided with a discharge-tube, of the same I 7 material, for conducting 0d the water as the ice is melted.
It is filled withice, and laid upon the abdomen of the corpse, as shown in the drawing, and the tube conducts the water from the sack into any suitable vessel at the bedside.
' The opening in therack consists of a slit in the upper surface, and is closed by a lacing-string, as shown.
When theabdomeu and intestines are kept from heating, and consequent decomposition, the decomposition is arrested in the remainder of the body, and no further precaution need be taken, within any reasonable time, than to lay a cloth upon the face, wet with an aqueous solution of saltpetre.
By means of this invention, a corpse may be kept from any appreciable decomposition while the interment is deferred for a few days to permit absent friends and relatives to arrive. Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- .The fiat rubber sack at, having a slit and lacing, as shown, and the discharge-tube b, all substantially as shownand described, and for the purpose set forth.
MARY E. MOTT.
