Be it known that I, DANIEL S. MARVIN, of Watertown, in the county of Jefferson, .and State of New York, have invented an Improved Knife and Fork-Soourer; and I do hereby declare that thefollowing is aolear, full, and explicitdescription of the construction and operation of the saine, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of .this specification, in 'whiche- Figure 1 is a perspective view,'showing accurately thc whole machine.

I construct the machine by taking, a convenient board, nailing slats upon three edges, making au excava- Ation long enough'to hold siii knives, the shape of the lower. portion of a knife-handle, inserting three little upright slats in the edge, wide enough apart to hold each two knives, aiiixing the movable slat by a sc rewthroughv purposes set forth.

-I operate the machine by inserting the knives, in pairs, back -to back, under .the'b'ar, turning down the screw,'and polishing with the cork orosswise of the blades, with a. little dry sand or brick-dust. When one side is polished, raise the bar, place one knife over the other, turning them both over without taking from under the bar, then polishand wipewith a dry cloth without washing. Forks are scoured with the cork,'without beingv inserted in the machine. The knives must all be of the same size or. set. v
