SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent NO. 776,324, dated November 29, 1904.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SAMUELHIRSCH, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Boys Blouses, of which the following is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to boys blouses; and the object thereof is to provide a garment of this class of improved construction and provided with improved means for connecting the blouse with the waistband of the trousers; and with this and other objects in View the invention consists in a garment of the class specified constructed as hereinafterdescribed and claimed.

The invention is fully disclosed in'the following specification, of which the accompanying drawings form a part, in which the separate parts of my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Figure 1 is a perspective view showing my improved blouse and also showing a pair of trousers and the method of wearing the blouse; Fig. 2, a partial section on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 a partial section on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1.

1n the practice of my invention I provide a blouses, which is longer from the neck to the bottom of the blouse than the'distance between the neck of the wearer and the waistband of the trousers, a pair of trousers being shown at b.

Passing over each shoulder of the blouse and extending downwardly to a point ata predetermined distance above the bottom of the blouse, both at the front and back thereof, is

a box-plait 0, and these boX-plaits are stitched to the material of the blouse, as shown at (Z. The boX-plaits c are on the outer side of the blouse as shown, and the material of the blouse at the front and back and at a predetermined distance above the bottom thereof is cut to form openings 6, through which are passed straps f, which also pass over the shoulders and through pockets 9, formed by the boX- plaits c. The openings in the body of the blouse through which the straps f are passed are at a predetermined distance above the waistband of the trousers when the blouse is on the wearer, and the ends of the straps f at the back are provided with buttons h, which are adapted to be connected with the waistband of the trousers, and a number of these buttons are provided whereby the lengths of the straps f at the back may be adjusted, or said straps f may be provided at the back with buttonholes and the trouser-waistband may be provided with buttons.

The front ends of the straps f are formed into loops f, through which are passed supplemental suspending straps 2', which are adapted to be connected with the waistband of the trousers at the front, and for this purpose the supplemental suspending-straps z' are provided with buttons '5 or the waistband b of the trousers may be provided with buttons and the supplemental suspending-straps c' with buttonholes. That part of the straps f at the front which is bent upwardly to form the loops f is provided with a plurality of buttonholes and the main part of said straps below the openings (2 with a button 1', whereby the length of the loops f may be regulated, or any suitable fastening device may be employed for this purpose.

The bottom of the blouse a is provided. with a hem Zt, through which is passed a draw cord or strap Z1, and in practice the draw cord or strap 7: is drawn tightly around the waistband of the trousers and tied or otherwise fastened, and the blouse being longer than the distance between the neck of the wearer and the waistband of the trousers the bottom porthe front and back and on the inner sides of said box-plaits being provided with openings at a predetermined distance above the bottom of the blouse, and suspending-straps which are passed through said box-plaits over the shoulders and the ends of which extend inwardly through said openings, said straps being provided with attaching devices adapted to be connected with the waistband of the trousers, and the length of the blouse being greater than the distance between the neck of the wearer and the Waistband of the trousers, substantially as shown and described.

2. A boys blouse provided with box-plaits which are secured to the body portion of the blouse 0n the outer side thereof, and which are passed over the shoulders and extend downwardly at the back and front a predetermined distance, the material of the blouse at the front and back and on the inner sides of said box-plaits being provided with openings at a predetermined distance above the bottom of the blouse, and suspending-straps which are passed through said box-plaits over the shoulders and the ends of which extend inwardly through said openings, said straps being provided with attaching devices adapted to be connected with the waistband of the trousers, and the length of the blouse being greater than the distance between the neck of the wearer and the waistband of the trousers, and the bottom of said blouse being provided with a draw-cord, substantially as shown and described.
