Description

N0.-v71,oo9. PATENTED SEPT. 27, 1904. A. A. GUARDIA. covmz ATTACHMENT PQRTABLBS 0R commas. APPLICATION FILED NOV 6, 1903.
N0 MODEL.
WITNESSES: INVENTOR I UNITED STATES Patented September 27, 1904.
PATENT OFFICE.
ALBERT A. GUARDIA, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO MELVIN BAKER, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
COVER ATTACHMENT FOR TABLES OR COUNTERS- SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 771,009, dated September 2'7, 1904.
Application filed November 6, 1903. Serial No. 180,117. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT A. GUARDIA, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cover Attachments for Tables or Counters; and I do hereby declare the fol- I sists in certain novel. features of construction hereinafter described and claimed, and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective View showing the cover in use. Fig. 2 shows the cover when not in use. Fig. 3 is a fragmentary view showing the means for securing the free end of the cover.
Referring specifically to the drawings, A indicates a table or counter. At one side thereof, under the projecting edge of the top, are secured brackets D, which support a springroller B, carrying a cover C.
At J is indicated the angular stem of the roller by which it is wound.
A guard-plate E extends partially around the roller, so that when the cover is wound thereon it will be protected. The parts are also concealed thereby, so as not to mar the appearance of the table. The guard-plate is fastened to the table by screws G and is further secured thereto by fingers F, projecting from the brackets D. To the free end of the cover a rod H is secured, which is of such a length as to lie outside of the guard-plate when the cover is wound on the roller, so that it may be readily grasped and unwound for extending it over the goods, as shown in Fig. 1. When the cover is in use, the rod H on the free end thereof is secured by hooks K on the opposite side of the table, by which the cover is held in extended position. The cover is preferably made of some waterproof fabric, so as to effectively protect the goods.
Having thus described my invention, what is claimed as new, and desired to be secured by LettersPatent, is
1. The combination with a table, of a spring roller secured at one edge thereof,'a cover on the roller extensible over the table and having a rod secured on its outer end, and hooks on the opposite side of the table to receive the rod for holding the cover in extended position.
2. The combination with a table, of a springroller secured at one edge thereof, a cover on the roller extensible over the table and having a rod secured on its outer end, hooks on the opposite side of the table to receive the rod for holding the cover in extended position, and a guard-plate over the spring-roller.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ALBERT A. GUARDIA. Witnesses:
SIGNA FnL'rsxoe, H. G. BATOHELOR.
