SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 770,589, dated September20, 1904.

Be it known that we, PETER J. KoLL and JOHN J. KOLL, citizens of the United States, residing at Earling, in the county of Shelby and State of Iowa, have made certain new and useful Improvements in Goods-Exhibitors, of which the following is a specification.

Our invention is an apparatus designed and adapted for use by merchants for suspending and displaying robes, rugs, and the like.

The chief objects aimed at in its construction are simplicity, cheapness, strength, portability, and adaptation for exhibition of a series of robes or rugs to the best advantage and in minimum space.

Fig. 3 is an enlarged cross-section of the top portion of the apparatus. Fig. 4 is a detail sectional view illustrating the application of a roller to the top member of the exhibitor.

The base portion of the exhibitor consists of two vertical posts 1, which are bifurcated at their lower ends and provided with casters and rigidly connected by a horizontal rod 2. These posts are bored longitudinally to adapt them to receive the side members 3 of the upper frame. The said side members are connected by a horizental member 4 and elbows 5. All the parts 3 4.5 are constructed of iron tubing which is preferably seven-eighths of an inch in diameter. Upon the horizontal member or tube 4 are arranged two series of rollers 6 and 7, all of which are rotatable and provided with screw-eyes 9, which are set equidistantly around their peripheries. The three rollers 6 are adapted to slide as well as rotate on the tube 4, so that they may be adjusted at different distances apart to adapt them to support small rugs in case it be required. The outer rollers 7 are prevented from sliding by means of keys 8, (see Fig. 2,) which are inserted through the tube 4. In other words, the outer rollers 7 are held in to inspect.

A series of robes or rugs may be attached to one set of screw-eyes; but as a rule only one will be attached to one set. Thus constructed the exhibitor or display-rack occupies minimum space, is adapted to be pushed about on the floor, so as to occupy an unused space or to display the goods to the best advantage, and the rollers or robe and rug-holders being rotatable any rug may be thrown up over the top member 4 in order to display the others or a particular one which a customer desires The customer having made his selection, the cords securing the particular robe or rug are severed and the latter removed from the rack, leaving all the rest suspended as before. By thus suspending the goods they do not become creased or shelfworm, but are always smooth and occupy small space as well as exhibited to the best effect.

The quality of easy portability of the apparatus is particularly advantageous, since it enables rugs, &c. to be transported to and displayed in any place in the store and exposed to inspection in the most favorable light.

It is to be understood that the base may be constructed in any approved form and of any material and that wire or any suitable device may be used in place of cord for suspending the rugs, &c.'

In practice the rack or exhibitor will be made in different sizes as conditions may require.

Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. The improved goods-exhibitor, comprising abase formed of vertical posts having wheels and rigidly connected as described, the upper frame consisting of three metal tubes, two of which are vertical and set in the aforesaid posts, and the other arranged horizontally and rigidly connecting the vertical meming vertical posts, an upper frame consisting of tWo vertical members and a horizontal member, all constructed of metal, the vertical members being set on the aforesaid posts, and

the series of rotatable rollers provided on their peripheries With screw-eyes, and arranged With their axes alined with said horizontal member and adapted to rotate thereon, as described.
