To ALL WHOM 1T MAY GONCERN:
Be it known that I, JO'SEPH P. N0Y15:S, ot` Binghamton, in the countyof Broome, and State of New York,
have invented a. new and useful Improvement on Hair or Toilet-Combs with-metallic backs or easings; and I do hereby declare that. the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference beingvhad .to the accompanying drawing, and the letters marked thereon. s
The nature of my invention consists in the construction of a metallic guard-tooth at Ithe ends of combs with metallic backs or casings, by extending or elongating said casinga sulicient distance from the end of the comb for the formation of. the tooth, thereby obvia'ting the-liability of breaking the teeth by falling. v
I construct my guard-teeth A A of brass, or the material used for the back or casingv B, by extending it to the requiredl distance from the end of the comb foi-*the formation ofthe rounded end C, and the' length 'of' the tooth. I then taper the part suficiently to form the point,'swage, and close it, bend it down to'the required angle with the back, and finish. Y
The utility of my invention'will be more readilyappreciated when it is understood that the' increased weight of combs with metallic backs makes them more liable to accident by falling.
What I- claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
As a new article of manufacture,a comb provided with a metallic back,vextended over the ends thereof, so as to form the end tboth or covering therefor, as represented and described, .for thepurpose set forth.
