TO ALL WHOM ITMAY CONCERN:
A Beit known 'that I, E. N. PARKER, of Centre BrookPost Office, Essex, in the county of Middlesex, and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and improved Tatting-Shuttle; and I do hereby declare that the following is e. full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make vanduse the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification. This invention relates to an improvementin tatting-shuttles, and 4consists in having the sides of the saine enclosing 'the revolving tube and spool, and its perforated 'ends'` riveted together, andto blocks. between such ends, said blocks having tension-holes, all constructed and arranged as will be hereinaftermore. fully' described.,

The keyj is slotted at its end, so that it s'ets over the bar e when the spool is revolved for winding the-thread. There is a hele in each of the ends through the blocks g, through which the thread is passed from the spool, and the tension of the threadis governed by the pressure of the thumb or finger, when the shuttle is in use, or in winding the thread. l There are other holes, t,(one'through each'end of the shuttle,) passing through the sides a, through which the thread may be passed if necessary to increase thetension. To those`who areacquainted with the subject, the advantages of this arrangementwill be I' have been a manufacturer of tatting-shuttles for seine years past, and have seen and tried various methods to enable theoperator to wind the thread on to the shuttle with ease. and facility, hut never succeeded until I invented this plan for constructing the shuttle. This shuttle leaves nothing to be desired relating to the subject. The spool revolves as the thread is used, while tlietension is increased or diminished by pressure, as before mentioned. 4
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- As a new article of nianuifuctuae, a tatting-shuttle, having its sides enclosing' the revolving tube c and spool d, andits perforated ends'riveted together, and to the blocks having the tension-holes g t, all constructed '.as'herein shown and described.
