Be it known that I, ABCULE ELMS, of North Granville, in thecounty ofW-ashington, and State o'fNew York, have invented new and. useful Improvements in Railroad-Chairs; and Ido hereby declare that the following is a ii'ull7 clear,'a.nd exact description thereof, which will enable those skilledin the art to make and use the saule, reference being had-to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specifica-tion, in which- Figure 1 is a plan view of my invention.

This invention relates to the manner of fastening the two parte' of a railroad-chair together, as will he more fully set forth inthe following.. In the accompanying plate of drawingsg A A are the rails, the-ends meeting, asshown.- The chair is composed of two parts, B B', each part being provided with hook projections, a d', as shown. The widthbetween-the said hooks is sucient to admit their entering upon one another, as shown, and when so locked or clamped together, a space, b, will be left between i them. This invention is simple and effective, and chairs so constructed will be found durable, and not liable to -become loose.
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Pateritv Forming the chair' for railroad-rails in two parts, B and B', which are drawn and held together by their hooks: a a substantially as shown and described, for the purpose of clamping and holdingthe'rails A, all as set forth.`
