Description
UNITED` STATES i Patented April 26, 1904.
WILLY DUGAET, or SCHILTIGHEIM, eEEMIfiNY.
MEANS FOR PACKING BOTTLES, 61.0'.
SPEGIFICATION- forming part of LettersuPatent No. 758,239, dated April 2, 1904:.`
Application filed October 20, 1902. Serial No. 127,975. (No model.) I I To @ZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, VILLY DUGAR'I, a rsubject of the Emperor of Germany, residingat Schiltigheim, Alsace-Lorraine, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Means for Packing Bottles and the Like, of which the following is aspecication.
My invention relates to devices or means for packing or'supporting bottles and analogous or other breakable articles, and may be applied to holding or packing said .bottles or articles in a manner reciprocal turned upside down in chests, boxes, and the like.
According to this invention the device or means by which the bottles or articles are packed consists of two sheets of 'metal of suitable stiifness with holes therein corresponding with the size of thebottles or articles to be held or to be carried and having projecting tongues which are surmounted by springing straps. Thesetongues are produced by cutting or slitting the sheet from which the device is made wit-hin the circle inclosing the part to be removed and subsequently pressing out the metal thereby cut or slit up into sections by suitable tools.
In the accompanying drawings, Figures 1 and 2 represent the top views of the two sheets. Fig. 3 is a section through the chest on the line A B of Fig. 2. Figs. 4 and 5 are sections through the projecting parts or tongues.

Fig. 6 is a perspective View of the placed two horizontal sheets t and c, of which 'I the sheet c is firmly connected with the chest, and the sheet Z can be taken up. The sheets Z2 and c are provided with holes of a greater diameter CZ and holes of a smaller diameter e in a manner that always a greater hole ofthe sheet c lies under a smaller hole of the sheet Z) and a smaller hole of the sheet c lies under a greater hole of the sheet The rims of the holes are provided with projecting tongues f, which are 4surrounded by springing straps g, having overlapping bent ends. The ends of `the tongues f are curved, outward. The bottles or other breakable articles are reciprocal turned upside down for packing a great number of them in a small chest or other box and the like.
Having now described my invention, what I claim is- In a devicev for packing bottles or other breakable articles two sheets b, c with apertures Le therein and tongues f projecting from said sheets and encircling said apertures, said tongues being surround ed by springing straps g and means for holding the two sheets In registering juxtaposition substantially as described.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto'set my hand in presence of two witnesses.
WILLY DUCART.
