BATH APPARATUS.
SPECIFICATION forming'part of Letters Patent No.758,207, dated April 2e, 1904. l Application and .iprn 1o, 1903. serai No. 151,943. (No model.)
To all whom, it naa/y concern:
Be it known that I, JONATHAN R. HAMIL- TON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kingston, in the county of Meeker and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bath Apparatus, of which the following is a specication.
My invention relates to improvements in bath apparatus, its object being particularly to provide an improved combination sitz, foot, vapor, and hot-air bath.
To this end my invention consists in the features of construction and combinationhereinaiter particularly described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure 1 is a side elevation ot' my improved apparatus, partly in section. Fig. 2 is a top view of my improved apparatus. Fig. 3 is a top view of the seat used in taking a hot-air bath, and Fig. LLis a top view of the lamp-receptacle n forming part of theapparatus.
In the drawings, A and B represent telescoping cylinders. The top 2 of the outside cylinder A is provided with a central opening 3, through which the head or' the person taking the bath passes. The size of the opening is determined by the slidably-supported strips 4, the inner curved ends of which form opposite sides of the opening. The cylinderA is supported by cables 5, connected to eyes 6, carried by the cylinder and terminating in a cable 7, passing over a sheave 8. Suitable guiderods 9 for the cylinder lare provided, said guide-rods being secured at their lower ends in brackets 10, carried by the lower cylinder and slidably extending through brackets 11, carried by the upper cylinder.
Arranged within the lower cylinder B is an open-top receptacle C. Supported inside the receptacle upon an arm 12 is alamp 13. Working in connection with the lamp 13 is a slide 14, having an actuating-handle ,15 extending through the side Wall of the receptacle and the adjacent side wall of the cylinder B. Having hinge-supportl upon the side wall of the receptacle above the lamp is a plate 17 The receptacle() is formed with Openings 18 in its wall to permit of circulation of air through the receptacle.
To adapt the apparatus for use as a vaporbath, I provide the pan 19, formed with a flange 2O at its upper edge to rest upon the edge of the receptacle C. Adapted to be used 'in connection with said pan is a seat 21,
formed with a central opening 22 and having secured to its under side outwardly-extend` ing strips 23, adapted to rest upon the edge of the pan, as shown in Fig. 1. Thus when the seat 21 is in position the vapor may pass from the pan 19 between the outer edge of the seat Yand the outer edge of the pan. The lower cylinder B is provided with a suitable drain-cock 24e. The opening 22 in the seat 21 is normally closed by a cover 25. When it is desired to use the apparatus for a hot-air bath, 'the seat 21 is removed and the cover 25.
placed in the pan 19 and used as a seat.
As shown in Figs. l and 3, the handle 15 is made in two pieces connected by a coupling 26. The handle may thus be disconnected to allow removal of the receptacle C and its contained parts.
-The hinged plate 17 may be turned over the lamp, as shown in Fig. l, to spread the flame, and the plate may also be-used to hold Sulfur in taking a sulfur-bath.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by LettersV Patent, isp l. In a bath apparatus of the class described, the combinationv with two telescopingcylinders, the upper cylinder being formed with a neck-Opening, of a receptacle arranged within said cylinder, a pan closing the top of said receptacle, and heating means arranged within said receptacle.
2. In a bath apparatus 'of the class described, the combination with two telescoping cylinders, the top of the upper cylinder being formed with a neck-opening, of a receptacle within said cylinder, a water-pan removably supported in the top of said receptacle, and underneath said pan, and a seat removably heating means supported in said receptacle supported in the top of said pan. IO below said pan. In testimony whereof I aHX my signature in 3. In'abath apparatus of the class described, presence of two Witnesses. 5 an open top, oloscd bottom, receptacle, awater- JONATHAN R. HAMILTON.
pan constructed to fit in the top of said re- Witnesses: ceptacle and extending downwardly therein, H. S. JOHNSON,
heating means supported in said receptacle EMILY F. OTIS.
