Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed. April 17, 1911. Serial No. 621,718.
To all whom it may concern: 7 7, w ,7
Be it known that I, NATHANIEL CRANK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hill City, in the county of Graham andState of Kansas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Vapor-Cabinets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in vapor cabinets and the object of the invention is to generally improve and simplify devices of this character.
The invention consists incertain devices and combination of devices to be now described and claimed.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention, Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical sectional view of Fig. 1, Fig. 3 is a section on the line 33 of Fig.2, and Fig. 4: is a section on the line H of Fig. 2.
1 designates the base of the cabinet which is of.pan-like character, legs 2 depending from the same. The top is composed of two sections 3 and 4 hingedly connected to opposite ends of the base 1.
5 and 6 designate closures which are hingedly connected to the sections 3 and 4. respectively and which are formed to provide I an opening 7, in which latter the neck of the user is received.
8 designates a hinged leg which is adapted to support the section 4 when the latter is in lowermost open position.
The base 1 is provided with a top 9 which is formed with a series of openings 10 and is provided with an upwardly extending box'like part 11, the latter being formed on each side at each of the ends of the latter with vertical openings 12, adapted to receive pins 13 which latter are passed through openings 14 of a seat 15, the openings 14: registering with the openings 12 of the boxlike part 11, whereby it will be obvious that the seat 15 may be raised or lowered tocprovide a seat of desired height. The seat 15 is formed with openings 16.
By reference to Fig. 3, it will be seen that the box 11 communicates with the pan-like base 1, whereby the vapor from the pan base enters the box 11 and egresses through the openings 12 and16 as well as through the openings 10 of the top plate 9 of the base. The basel is formed with a compartment 17 which communicates by means of a pipe 18 heat to the boiler 19.
I withthe boiler 19 inwhich latter the water is confined. g,
e 20 designates the burner for supplying In the compartment or chamber 17 there is a medicine container or can 21 which is spaced from the side walls and the bottom of the chamber 17 and has a tube 22 connected thereto which latter extends through the top of the section 1 and has a mouth piece 23 whereby the occupant of the cabinet may inhale the fumes from the medicinal receptacle 21. It will be noted that the steam or vapor enters receptacle 17 from the pipe 18 and egresses from the receptacle through the opening 24: to escape into the base 1. Thus the steam or vapor is introduced into the cabinet in contact with the medicinal receptacle 21, tending to vaporize the medicine in the latter, after which it escapes from the openings 21 to enter the interior of the cabinet.
25 designates sockets carried by the opposite side walls of section 3 in which are removably fitted the depending ends of a U shaped supporting rod 26.
Patented Dec. 5, 1911.
27 designates a water tank having hooks 28 secured thereto the hooks engaging over the supporting bar 26 and thereby supporting the water tank 27 and permitting the latter to be slid from one side to the other of the cabinet. Depending from the tank 27 is a rubber tube 29 having a spray nozzle 30 secured thereto, by means of which the occupant may obviously spray himself with cold water whenever desired.
31 designates a thermometer by means of which the temperature of the cabinet can be ascertained. The neck of the medicinal container projects through the cover plate 9,,
tainer having a rubber tube connected thereto.
2. In a vapor cabinet,a base of p anlike character, a compartment in the base, one wall of said compartment being formed ranged to have its free open end spaced from the container, and means to supply steam or vapor to said pipe.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing with an opening adjacent the bottom of the witnesses.
base to communicate with the compartment a medicinal container in the compartment NATHANIEL CRANK having its bottom located above the bottom Witnesses:
of the base, a pipe extending into the com- LOUIS SINGER, partment adjacent the top thereof and ar- MARY A. CRANK.
