PATENT OFFICE- MALLE LITTLE-PRITZKOW, NEW YORK, N. Y.
COMBINED SKIRT AND WAIST HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 757,756, dated April 19, 1904.
Application filed October 24, 1903.
To a, whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, MALLE LITTLE-FRITZ- KOW, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in a Combined Skirt and Waist Holder, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to garment-holders, and is designed to provide an improved device for supporting a skirt and for holding down the back portion of a waist. It is, furthermore, designed to arrange the device for convenience in application and to insure a comfortable fit thereof to the body of the wearer. I
With these and other objects in view the present invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims, it being understood that changes in the form, proportion, size, and minor details may be made within the scope of theclaims without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a skirt-holder constructed in accordance with the present invention. Fig. 2 is a detail sectional View taken longitudinally through the device and illustrating the application thereof. Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail sectional view to illustrate the manner of fastening one of the teeth or prongs to the frame of the device.
Like characters of reference designate cor: responding parts in each figure of the draw-v lugs.
As clearly indicated in Fig. 1 of the drawings, it will be seen that the present device embodies an open frame 1, which is preferably elliptical, so as to obviate sharp corners. In addition to the elliptical shape the frame is bowed in the direction of its major axis, so as to render one side of the frame convexed and the opposite side concaved, as clearly indicated in Fig. 2 of the drawings. At opposite ends of the major axis of the frame are prongs, teeth, of projections 2, which are slightly bowed and project inwardly in oppo- Serial No. 178,420. (No model.)
site directions at the concaved side of the frame. While any number of teeth or prongs may be employed, it is preferred to provide Each tooth or prong has a shank 3, which extends through the frame and is reduced to form a shoulder 4, which abuts against the inner pe- 4 ripheral edge of the frame.
Upon reference to Fig. 2 of the drawings it will be seen that the lower set of prongs or teeth are intended to be engaged with the inner side of the band 5 of the skirt, While the upper set of prongs are intended to engage the lower portion of the waist 6, the device of course lying between these garments and the body of the wearer. From this description of the application of the device it will be understood that the frame is supported from the dress-waist by reason of the engagement of the upper set of teeth therewith, while the skirt is hung from the frame by reason of the lower set of teeth engaging the skirt. It will now be understood that the frame of the holder is bowed longitudinally in order that its convexed side may fit snugly and comfortably against the back of the wearer.
From the foregoing description it will be understood that the device of the present invention is complete in itself, is independent of the usual belt, and instead of being permanently attached to one or the other of the garments is conveniently applicable and removable therefrom and is therefore interchangeable with diiferent dresses.
Having fully described the invention, what is claimed, and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is'
l. A combined skirt and waist holder comprising a rigid open flame and pointed teeth .or prongs rigidly carried by opposite ends of the frame and projected inwardly therefrom in opposite directions, both sets of teeth or prongs being inclined to one and the side of the frame.
2. A combined skirt and waist holder comprising an open frame curved to conform to the contour of the body and a plurality of same wardly from opposite ends of the frame and extending downwardly on the concave side of l to the said frame and extending downwardly the said frame out of the curved plane thereof. on the concave side thereof out of the curved IO 3. A combined skirt and Waist holder complane of the frame.
prising a rigid open frame curved to conform 5 to the contour of the body and provided with MALLE LITTLE'PRITZKOW' sharp rigid curved teeth or prongs adapted to In presence of pass through the fabric to be engaged there- R. A. SMITH, by, said teeth or prongs being rigidly attached A. Gr. LOEFFLER.
