RAZOR-STROP DRESSER.

SPECIFICATION forming part of -Letters Patent No. 753,196, dated February 23, 1904.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, THOMAS J. Fonnn, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Geneva, in the county of Ashtabula and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Razor-Strep Dressers; and I hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same. This invention relates to improvements in razor-strop dressers.

The primary object of this invention is to provide a razor-strop dresser which to render it simple and inexpensive in construction com prises a tubular strop-dressing member annular in cross-section and arranged at one end of and in line with a handle and secured to the handle by a round pin, which fills the said tubular member interiorly and extends into the handle.

Another object of this invention is to inex-' pensively and efi iciently prevent turning of the tubular strop-dressing member upon the pin employed, as aforesaid, in securing the said strep-dressingmember to the handle.

With these objects in view the said invention consists in certain features of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claim.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of a razor-strop dresser embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is aside view, largely in section, of the same. Fig. 3 is an enlarged transverse section on line 3 3, Fig. 1, looking in the direction indicated by the arrow. Fig. 3 is drawn on asoinewhat larger scale than Figs. 1 and 2.

Referring to the drawings, (a designates the strop-dressing member of my improved device. The said member a is in the form of a tube and composed of any suitable metallic composition which is susceptible of being magnetically influenced and which when rubbed upon a razor-strop will leave upon the strop a deposit instrumental in putting a fine edge upon a razor stropped on the said strop.

The strop dressing tube a is annular in cross-section and arranged at one end of and in line with the handle 5, to which the said tube is attached by a metal pin a, which is preferably a permanent steel magnet and large enough in cross-section to transversely fill the said tube and long enough to extend through the tube and a suitable distance into the handle. The pin a is provided at its outer end with a head d, abutting against or overlapping the outer end of the tube a, and is pointed at its inner end, as at e, to facilitate its entrance into the handle, which is composed, preferably, of wood.

A permanent steel magnet in the form of a pin employed in securing the magneticallyinfluenceable strop-dressing tube to the handle. magnetically influences the said tube and efficiently and inexpensively prevents turning of the said tube on the pin.

By the construction hereinbefore described the cost of the razor-strep dresser is reduced to a minimum without aifectin g the operativeness, convenience, and utility of the device.

What I claim is- In a razor-strop dresser, the combination, with a handle, and a strop-dressing member in the form of a tube arranged at one end of and in line with the handle, which tube is annular in cross-section, of a permanent magnet in the form of a round pin extending through the said tube into the handle and thick enough to fill the tube interiorly, which magnet is provided, at its outer end, with a head over lapping the outer end of the said tube.
