Having' thus described the invention, what I claim is,-

1.v The4 combination with a gun-stock, of a tube housed therein, a spring-pressed plun.

2,' Thev combination with a stock having a bore"v or housing, of a transversely-compressible cartridge-receiving magazine removably fitted in the bore or housing, and adapted for compression by the Walls thereof.

3. The combination with a stock having a bore or housing, of a magazine comprising a group of connected transversely-compressible u 1 cartridge-receivin tubes, removably fitted in the bore or housing, and adapted for compression by the walls thereof.

4. The combination with a' gun-stock, of a tube carrying a spring-pressed plunger, and a magazine adapted to be disposed within the tube, the magazine comprising a plurality of split tubes which are normally of greater internal diameter than the rims of the cartri'dges to i rmit the latter to be readily removed when the magazine'is withdrawn from the tube but which are adapted to be compressed when placed within the tube thus to prevent any rattling or. movement ofv the cartridges. v
