NECKTlE-HOLDER SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 746,573, dated December 1 Application filed July 15 1903.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, LAURISTON F. L. PYN

OHON, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement/in Necktie-Holders, of which the following is a specification.

My invention consists of a novel construction of a necktie holder wherein I have provided novel means for holding in assembled position theparts which constitute the holder, and I have also provided an improved construction of laterally-extending limbs which are formed bya wire bent into loops, whereby a series or plurality of lateral spacesare formed which readily adjust themselves to neckties of various thicknesses.

The invention further consists of a novel construction of a sectional post or support wherein the parts comprising the holder are supported, novel means being employed for holding the parts in assembled position.

The invention further consists of other novel features of construction, all as will be hereinafterfully set forth, and pointed out in the claims.

necktie-holder, the same consisting of the laterally-extending looped members 2,which are preferably formed from a continuous piece of wire or similar material, the outer portions of which are alternately joined by the bends, as 3, so that spaces tare formed wherein the necktie can be inserted. latter is formed by the members 7 and 9, it being of course understood that the member 7 is preferably provided with a plurality of lougitudinally-extending grooves or recesses 6, so thata pair of said looped members 2 may be supported bya single post, as will be understoodfrom Fig. l. The looped members 2 and the sections 7 and 9 having been assembled in the manner seen in Fig. 2, the upper and lower caps 10 and 11 are placed in position, the parts appearing as seen in Figs. 1 and 3 and it being understood that the lower cap 11 is preferably screwed or otherwise secured to the sections 7 and 9 in substantially the same manner as the upper cap 10, as shown in Fig. 3.

It will be apparent from the foregoing that a necktie-holder constructed in accordance with my invention can be cheaply manufactured and assembled, since the looped sup porting members 2 can be readily formed from a continuous piece of wire, having their inner portions 5 deflected, as will be under stood from Figs. 2 and 4., and the parts can be readily assembled and held in position by means of the caps 10 and 11 without the use of screws, glue, or other extraneous fastening devices.

It will of course be apparent that, ifdesired, the caps 10 and 11 may be dispensed with and that any other fastening devices for holding the sections 7 and 9 in position may be employed, according to requirements. It will further be understood that, if desired, a single formed in the section 7 and that the deflected extremity5 ofthe looped members 2 maybe inserted therein, the parts being held in assembled position, substantially in the manner indicated in Fig. 5.

In the construction seen in Fig. 6 I have shown the deflected portions 5 of the looped members 2 as being inserted in oppositelyextending grooves or recesses 13 and 14 of the members 7 and 9, respectively, it being understood that the latter are held in assembled position by any suitable means.

In the construction seen in Fig. 7 I have shown the members 7 and 9 difiering in crosssection from those shown in Fig. 2 and the members 7 provided with recesses 15 and the limbs of the looped members 2 slightly deflected. This will bring the ties from a Wall.

I desire to call special attention to the fact that a necktie-holder constructed in accord ance with my invention can be cheaply man ufactured and the looped members are capable of readily adjusting themselves to neckties of various thicknesses, since it will be apparent that the deflected ends of the looped members are free to move longitudinally in the respective recesses in which they are seated, such longitudinal movement being limited by the caps 10 and 11, as is evident.

It will of course be understood that the members 2 and the sections 7 and 9 of the supporting-post 8 may be assembled in different ways from that shown, and I do not, therefore, desire to be limited in every instance to the exact construction I have herein shown and described.

In the construction seen in Fig. 8 I have shown the members 7 and 9 as in Fig. 2, the member 7 being provided, as before, with the recesses 6 and with the limbs of the looped members 2 slightly deflected at substantially the point where they pass from between the two sections 7 and 9.

It will of course be understood that I desire to employ some means for suspending the necktie-holder, and to this end I have shown in Fig. 1 a loop connected with one of the caps, from which construction it will be evident that the necktie-holder can be suitably supported, although it will further be evident that I may em ploy an eye or any other suitable means adapted to serve the purpose.

It may be necessary in some instances to employ screws 16 for securing the two sections 7 and 9 together, and in some instances I may dispense with the caps and use only the screws.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. A necktie-holder, having a body portion formed of two sections, means for detachably securing said sections together with a recess therebetween, a groove directly in one of said sections extending thereinto at an angle to that face of the'said section which is adjacent the other section, and a plurality of laterallyextending loops seated in said recess between said sections and having deflected ends resting in said groove.

2. A necktie holder comprising a post formed of a plurality of separable sections one of which has a recess, an integral piece of wire forming a series of laterally-extending loops the inner ends of which are deflected and engaged in said recess and means for detachably securing together the ends of said sections, said means acting as stops for the said loops but permitting longitudinal movement thereof therebetween.

3. A necktie-holder comprising a post having threaded ends and formed of separable longitudinally-(livided sections one of which has a recess, an integral piece of wire forming a series of laterally-extending loops seated between said sections and the inner ends of which are deflected and engaged in said recess and threaded caps mounted on the ends of said post whereby its sections are detachably secured together so that said loops are permitted longitudinal movement but are prevented from displacement.
