Be it known that I, JAMES FRANKLIN PAGE, acitizen of the United States, residing at Spartanburg, in the county of Spartanburg and State of South Carolina, have invented a new and useful Necktie-Holder, of whichthe following is a specification.
This invention relates to devices employed for supporting neckties in position to prevent them from riding the collar or moving laterally thereon, and has for its object to produce a deviceof this class which may be cheaply constructed, easily applied, and which will be entirely concealed by the necktie When in use.
The invention consists in certain novel features of construction, as hereinafter shown and described, and specified in the claim.
In the drawings illustrative of the invention, in which corresponding parts are denoted by like designating characters, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a shirt-band and the adjacent portion of a shirt with the improved device attached to the co11ar-button. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the same with the collar attached to the band and the necktie in its first position. Fig. 3 is a similar view with the tie completed or in its completed position. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the attachment enlarged.
The improved device comprises a clip or fastener formed with a central downwardlyopening loop 10 and with offset side loops 11 12, also opening downwardly and disposed at opposite sides of said central loop and arranged at right angles thereto with the openings of the side loops in longitudinal alinement and at right angles to the opening of the central loop,with their upper closed ends L 13 14 arranged in a plane below the closed end of the central loop, as shown. The device will preferably beformed of a single piece of wire of sufficient stiffness and resiliency to resist the strains to which it will i-The necktie (represented at 18) will then be passed through the loops 11 12, with its top edge engaging the inner faces of the closed upper ends of said loops, and it is then tied into a bow, as shown in Fig. 3. When this is done, the device is entirely concealed by the collar and the laterally-extending members of the bow, as shown.
This makes a very simple, cheaply-constructed, and efficient necktie-holder, which will firmly support the tie in place and not only prevent it from rising or riding the collar, but also prevent its moving laterally. The material employed will preferably be wire, as before stated, and may be plated or coated, as required, to increase its attractiveness, and will be found very convenient and practicable for the purposes described.
