Be-it known that I, JOHN B. CALVERT, a citi- 4 zen of the United States, residing at Guthrie,

in the county of Logan, Oklahoma Territory,

I have invented new and useful Improvements in Self-Closing Ink-Wells, of which the following is a'specific'ation.

This invention relates to self-closing inkwells, and has for its object the production of a simple and efficient appliance of this character constructed to be air-tight in closed condition and which is readily opened by pressure from the pen-holding hand of the user.

The nature of the invention will be readily comprehended, reference being had to the following detailed description and to the accomwire.

Referring to the drawings by numerals, 1 designates the base of the ink-well, on which are supported two wells '2 2 for ink, although a single well may be employed. A self-closing ink-well, consisting of a well, a slidable cover therefor, a U-shaped pivoted plate partly encircling the well, a pivoted lever beneath the well and having link connection with the plate, a pivoted lever at the rear of the Well having link connection at its upper end with said cover and having'its lower end in engagement with the aforesaid lever.
