UNITED 'ASTATES" PATENT ()FFICE.
GEORGE W. RAUM, OF GREENVILLE, TEXAS.
DISPLAY-STAND FOR DOORS, 80C.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 739,027, dated September 15, 1903.
Application filed March 13, 1903- Serial NO- 147,673| (N0 model.)
To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, GEORGE W. RAUM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Green- 'ville, in the county of Hunt and State of Texas,
have invented a new and useful Display-Stand for Doors, 850., of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved display rack or stand for displaying building materialsuch as doors, blinds, windows,
parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claims hereto appended, it being understood that various changes in form, proportion, and minor details of construction may be resorted to withoutdeparting from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a display rack or stand constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of the upper supporting-bracket, and Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of the lower supportingbracket.
Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures of the draw- 1ngs.
1 designates a frame or support formed of wood or other suitable material, which may be attached to a wall or other structure, and comprises the uprights 2 and cross-beams 3 and 4, connected together in any suitable manner, as by screws or similar fastening devices. The upper and lower cross-beams 3 and 4 are each provided with a series of coincident vertically-disposed openings 5, and pivoted to the upper cross-beam are one or more castings or brackets 6, provided with depending pins 7, which fit within the openings 5 and permit said brackets to be swung freely back and forth. The ends of the brackets 6 are provided with rectangular recesses or sockets defining a pair of outwardly-extending forked arms 8, between which is clamped the upper portion of one edge of the door, the lower end thereof being supported in a squared recess or socket 9, formed in the end of a casting or bracket 10, the pivotal pin 11 of which fits within one of the openings 5 in the lower cross-beam. A clamping-screw 12 engages interior threads formed in one of the forked arms 8 of the bracket 7, one end of said screw being provided with a swiveled head 13, which bears against the side of the door, and the opposite end thereof with a milled head 14, by means of which the screw is adjusted to clamp the door or other article to be displayed between the forked arms.
The construction of my device will be readily understood, and the operation is as follows: The lower end of the door or other article to be exhibited is placed in the socket 9 of the lower bracket and the upper end thereof in the recess of the upper bracket, the door being securely clamped between the forked arms by tightening the clampingscrew, the pivoted brackets permitting the door to be swung freel'yback and forth, so as to allow the same to be inspected.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that I have provided an exceedingly simple inexpensive display-rack by means of which heavy doors, windows, 850., may be pivotally supported in an elevated position and conveniently turned at any angle, so as.
to effectively display the entire surface of the article. The ends of the clamping screws being swiveled permits the door to be clamped in the bracket without scarring or otherwise mutilating the woodwork.
Having thus described the invention, what 1. A device of the class described, comprising a frame or support, a pair of supportingbrackets pivoted to the frame, a socket formed in one of the brackets, and clamping means carried by said bracket and communicating with the socket.
2. A device of the class described, comprising a frame or support, a pair of brackets pivoted to the frame, one of said brackets being provided with a recess or socket, and the other I claim, anddesire to secure by Letters Pating a frame or support, a pair of brackets pivoted to the frame, the lower bracket being provided with a recess or socket and the upper bracket with a vertically-disposed groove or channel and a clamping-screw provided with a swivel-head carried by the upper bracket.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto afiixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE W. RAUM.
Witnesses:
W. O. JONES, MAYO W. NEYLAND.
