Description

DRA WWWWW PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP 2.
OOOOOO L.
UNITED STATES atented September 1, 1903.
PATENT OEEICE.
THOMAS F. TRIMBLE, OF VALATIE, AND VVLLIAM A. HARDER, OF
HUDSON, NEW YORK.
DRAWERS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 737,975, dated September 1, 1903.
Application led November 8, 1902. Serial No. 130,584. (No model.)
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that we, THoMAs F. TRIMBLE, a resident of Valatie, and VILLIAM A. HAR- DER, a resident of Hudson, in the county of Oolumbia and State of New York, both citizens of the United States, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Drawers, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
Our invention relates to drawers used more particularly as clothing for gentlemen.
We will describe drawers embodying our invention and then point out the novel features in the appended claim.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this speciiication, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Figure l is a rear elevation of our invention, certain portions being partially detached for the sake of clearness. Fig. 2 is a plan of one of the cuttings used in forming the se'at.
To the waistband l are connected the leg portions 2 3, these portions being cut away at 4:, and thereby separated and connected again by means of the cuttings 5 6, which are sewed directly to each leg portion, so as to bridge the interval between the same. The cuttings 6 are made double and are bent upward at 7, as indicated in Fig. l. Scams, therefore, are located at S 9, the portion at 7 being seamless. The cuttings 5 6 are made of springy resilient cloth and free from irregularities. By this means the garment can yield at the point 7, as indicated by dotted lines in Fig. l. The garment thus produced is comfortable and to a great extent self-adjusting. The seams are so located as to have no tendency to produce chaiin g or to be otherwise objectionable. The
advantage in having the cuttings resilient at the point 7 is obvious. It will therefore be seen that we have produced a neat simple article of manufacture having the abovementioned advantages and capable of being cheaplyT made.
Having thus described our invention, we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- As an article of manufacture, drawers, comprising a pair of leg portions separated from each other adjacent to the seat portion and provided with waist portions connected directly together by a central seam at the back of the drawers, and a seamless member connected with said leg portions and bridging the interval between the same, said member being widest at its central portion and having its side edges curved and meeting at a point at each end of the said member, the said 'seamless member consisting of two similarshaped pieces forming two thicknesses and made of resilient materiah'the pointed end of said member at the back being in line with the central seam connecting the waist portions of the drawers, and the upper ends of the seams connecting said member with the leg portion at t-he back meeting at said central seam, the lower part of said member being bent upward and connected with the front portion of the legs of the drawers.
In testimony whereof we have signed our names to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
