To all whom t may concern:V
Be it known that l, NATHAN RUBENSTEIN, a-
citizen ofthe United States, and a resident of l New York, .borough of Manhattan; in the county of New York and State of New York," have made and invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bed-Springs, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvementin bed-springs, the object being to so construct a'device of this character that the tension of the several springs maybe easily and readily regulated, and whereby any one or more ofplan view of a part of a bed-frame having a bed-spring constructed in accordance with my invention resting thereon. Fig. 2vis a sectional view taken on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 3 31 of Fig. 2, and Fig. l is a detached view ot' one of the supporting-arms.
Referring to the drawings, 5 represents a part of a bed-frame` constructed in any snitable way, and 6 6 several sections of which the bed-spring consists. As the spring is made up of any suitable manner of these sections, all constructed alike, the description of one will suffice for the others. EX- tending crosswise of the bed-frame and resting thereon is'an adjustable support, consisting of a rod 7, the ends 8 of which are threaded into the sleeves 9, formedon the lower end of the vertical arms 10, the upper ends 11 of said arms 10 beingbent over to rest upon the bed-frame 5, this construction and arrangement of parts allowing of the adjustment of the armslO on the rod 7 to adapt the spring to any width of bed-frame. This adjustable support carries the spring proper, consisting of the strap or band 12, preferably made of thin sheet-steel, the opposite edges of which, near its ends, are cut or notched,

From the foregoing it will be understood that thetension of; the .springs forming each b'o section maybe increased ordecreased by properly adjusting the loopsllt' in the several notches 13, that thegsprings 1,5 may be easily and readilyV detached and others substituted therefor, and also that by reason of the fact that the several sections are independent of each other the tension ofthe springs of one section may be changed or altered without in any way affecting the springs of the remaining sections.
Having fully describedmy invention, what I'cl'aim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A bed-spring consisting of several sections, each section consisting of a supportingbar' having its ends adjustablysecured in supporting-arms adapted to rest onthe bedframe, a strap-spring, coiled springsadjustably secured to the ends of said's'trap-spring and removably secured to vsaidsupportingarms, and a spring located between 'and having its ends secured to said strap-spring and supporting-bar, substantially as described.
2. A bed-spring formed with several sections, each section consisting of a supportingbar 7 having its endsthreaded into the vertical arms 10 adapted to rest upon the bedframe, and'provided with grooves 17, a strapspring l2 having its ends notched, springs 15, the ends of which lit in vsaid notches in said strap-spring and into said grooves 17 formed in the supporting-arms, and' aspring 18 located between and A`secured; to 'said strap'- spring 12 and supporting-bar 7, substantially y as described. j
