SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 736,547, dated August 18, 1903.
Application filed January 19,1903. Serial No. 139.712. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be itknown that I, MARTIN RHoADEs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rockford, in the county of Winnebago and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pins, of which the following is a specification. v
The object of this invention is to construct a pin for holding curtains and draperies in their draped position which will allow them to be disengaged therefrom without tearing if strain should be exerted.
This invention consists in a pin and its support, the pin resting in the support in a mannor to allow it to be raised in order that the curtain or drapery may slip from the pin without tearing.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of my improved pin. Fig. 2 is a side elevation. Fig. 3 is a section on dotted line a.
In this instance the pin is formed from a single piece of wire, comprising the center portion having the depression 1, the branches 2 and 3 extending therefrom and running parallel. The branch 3 is formed with the coil 4 and terminating in the prong 5, resting in the depression 1 and its pointed end extending beyond the end of the center portion.
The branch 2 is formed with the coil 6 and has its free end 7 twisted around the prong 5 near its coil 4. A ring 8 interlocks with the coils 4 and 6.
The curtain or drapery to be draped has the prong 5 passing through its folds and is held in position by the ring engaging a hook in the wall or casing. The point of the prong will rest in the depression 1 and is held in place by the spring force of the coils. force of the spring is sufficient to hold the folds on the prong; but should the folds be pulled they will slip off the prong, thereby preventing tearing of the curtain or draperies.
I claim as my invention- A pin for holding curtains or draperies, comprising a main frame including two substantially parallel bars having at one end a cross-bar elevated above the plane of the parallel bars and provided with a depression, extending toward said plane, and.a straight spring actuated prong extending substantially parallel with the other bars, having one end located in the depression.
