SCREEN-PLATE HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 735,057, dated August 4, 1903.

Be it known that I, JOHN H. BLAISDELL, of Oakland, in the county of Kennebec and State of Maine, have invented a certain new and useful Screen-Plate Holder, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has for its object the production of a screen-plate holder which is particularly simple in construction and strong and durable in use; and to this end it consists in the novel combinations and constructions hereinafter fully described, and pointed outin the claims.
Figure 1 is a top plan, partly broken away, of a preferable embodiment of my invention. Figs. 2 and 3 are sectional views taken on lines 2 2 and 3 3, Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of one end of one of the supportingbars.
A is the frame of my screen-plate holder, and B are supporting-bars for the screenplates 0. The frame A,which is of any desirable form, size, and construction, is provided with a lengthwise guide usually consisting of continuous grooves a in its opposite sides ct, and one of the ends a of the frame A is formed with a lengthwise slot a communicating at its extremities with the contiguous ends of the grooves a. Said supporting-bars B are provided at their ends with substantially central trunnions I), mounted in the grooves a and adjustable lengthwise thereof. As best seen in Fig. 2, the bars 13 have longitudinal undercut channels I) at their upper sides, and the opposite lengthwise edges of the screen-plates O are detachably fitted to said channels.
The supporting bars 13 and the screenplates 0 are moved lengthwise of the frame A by a bar D, which projects through the slot a and the contiguous ends of the grooves a into engagement with the outer side edge of the opposing end screen-plate G and is movable lengthwise of the frame A by any suitable means, as a bar cl and clamping means or screws cl. The intermediate portion of the bar d is connected by a link d to the intermediate part of the bar D, and the ends of the bar 02 are connected to the clamping means or screws d, secured to the sides a of the frame A,
I usually interpose packings d of rubber or other desirable material, between the opposite ends of the inner face or edge of the bar D and suitable shoulders a provided in the contiguous ends of the groves a, in order that when the screen is flushed for cleaning the same there may be no leakage of water between contiguous surfaces of the bar D and the grooves a.
E represents sealing-strips for engaging upper faces of the supportingbars B and the screen-plates C, and F represents cams pivoted to the frame A for holding the sealingstrips in operative position. v
WVhen it is desired to remove one of the screen-plates O, the cams F are rocked on their pivots for releasing the sealing-strips E and the clamping-screws d are loosened, whereupon the screen-plates O and their supporting-bars B may be adjusted lengthwise of the frame, thus permitting removal of the desired screen-plate.
The construction and operation of my screen-plate holder will now be readily understood upon reference to the foregoing description and the accompanying drawings, and it will be particularly noted that more or less change may be made in the construction and arrangement of the component parts thereof without departing from the spirit of my invention.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. Ascreen-plateholdercomprisingaframe having continuous lengthwise grooves, a plurality of supporting-bars having parts thereof adjustable in said grooves lengthwise of the frame, and screen-plates detachably engaged with the supporting-bars,substantially as and for the purpose described.
2. A screen-plate holder comprising aframe having continuous lengthwise grooves, a plurality of supporting-bars having parts thereof adjustable in said grooves lengthwise of the frame and having longitudinal undercut channels at their upper sides, and screenplates having their edges fitted to said channels, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
3. Ascreen-plateholdercomprisingaframe having opposite sides provided with lengthwise grooves, supporting-bars having their ends provided with substantially central trunnions adjustable in the grooves lengthwise of the frame, and screen-plates detachably engaged with the supporting-bars, substantially as'and for the purpose described.
4. Ascreen-plateholdercomprisingaframe having opposite sides provided with lengthwise grooves, supporting-bars having their ends provided with substantially central trunnions adjustable in the grooves lengthwise of the frame, said bars having longitudinal undercut channels at their upper sides, and screen-plates having their edges fitted to said channels, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
5. A screen plate holder comprising a frame, supporting-bars adjustable lengthwise of the frame, screen-plates detachably engaging the supporting-bars, a bar having its intermediate portion movable toward the outer portion of the intermediate part of one of the end screen-plates, and clamping means connected to the ends of said bar for moving the same lengthwise of the frame, substantially as and for the purpose specified.

A screen plate holder comprising a frame, supporting-bars adjustable lengthwise of the frame, screen-plates detachably engaging the supporting-bars, a bar engaging the outer portion of one of theend screen-plates, a second bar having its intermediate portion connected to the intermediate part of the first bar, and clamping means connected to the ends of the second bar for moving the same lengthwise of the frame, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
7. A screen-plate holder comprising a frame having opposite sides provided with lengthwise grooves formed with shoulders at corresponding ends, said frame having one of its supporting-bars and screen-plates in position,
substantiallyas and for the purpose described.
8. A screen plate holder comprising a frame, supporting-bars adjustable lengthwise of the frame, screen-plates detachably engaging the supporting-bars, sealing-strips for holding the screen-plates in position, and cams pivoted to the frame for holding the sealing-strips in operative position, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
9. Ascreen-plateholdercomprisingaframe having a lengthwise guide, supporting-bars adjustable in the guide lengthwise of the frame and having longitudinal undercut channels at their upper sides, screen-plates having their edges fitted to said channels, sealing-strips for engaging the supportingbars and the screen-plates, and cams pivoted to the franie for holding the sealing-strips in operative position, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
