MUD-ERASER.
l l Specication of Letters Patent.
PatentedvDec. 1, 1908.
Application filed March 16, 1907. Serial No. 362,599.
To all whom it may concern: n
Be it known that I, ERNEST MONTAGUE ELLisoN,a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at No. 20 Doughty street, i-n the county of London, England, have invented a new andl useful Improvement in Mud-Erasers, of which the following is a specication.
My invention relates to an apparatus for removing mud from clothing or other like purposes.
The apparatus is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure l shows an elevation of one form of the apparatus. Fig. 2 shows an elevation of another form. Fig. shows a section von the line A-B of Fig. 2. Fig. 4L shows an end view of a third construction. y
As may be seen from the drawing, the apparatus consists of a small frame (a, a', a) of wood, ivory, metal, vulcanite or other suitable material provided with a end or ends (b, b', 5), a handle (al, al, 0Z) with cross-bars (c, c', 0), which bars are curved so as to project above the surface of the frame, and are preferably milled or notched on their edges to increase their etliciency. The frame may have one or more of these crossbars; in practice I find that pointed,
five is a useful number. The crossbars may be arranged longitudinally with regard to `the frame handle (Fig. 1), or transversely (Figs. 2-4) The construction of the apparatus shown in Fig. 1 has the handle Z attached to the frame at one side and in the same plane therewith.
In Fig. 2 the handle d is attached to the frame a at one end but in the same plane therewith, and in Fig. 4 the handle al is attached to the back of the frame a. The position of this handle is, however, merely a matter of convenience in use and does not materially affect the operation or the device.
Vhat I claim is:
An improved pocket mud eraser comprising an oblong frame, a pointed corrugated end on said frame, a handle in one piece with said frame and a plurality of `curved and corrugated bars on said frame.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
E. M. ELLISON.
`Witnesses:
HERBERT SEETON JONES, LEONARD E. HAYNEs.
