SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 734,131, dated July 21., 1903. Application filed February 13, 1903. Serial No. 143,200. [No model.)

Be it known that I, OHARLEY MODONNER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Wansaukee, in the county of Marinette and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and useful Shade and Curtain-Pole Holder, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates particularly to improvements in supports for roller window curtains, curtain-poles, and the like.

It is the object to provide a structure of this character that can be readily applied to a Window-frame by an inexperienced person without the use of tools and without injuring or marring the frame. It is readily adjustable to difierent sizes of windows, is secure and rigid when in place, is very simple in construction, and consequently can be manufactured at small cost.

The preferred embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved holder, and Fig. 2 is a sectional view through the same.

Similar reference-numerals indicate corre sponding parts in all the figures of the drawlugs.

In the embodiment herewith. illustrated a pair of slidably-associated overlapped supporting members are employed, which are in the form of rods 10. The outer ends of these rods are split, as shown at 11, and the fingers 12 thus formed are spread apart, and to their free ends are secured hanger members in the form of brackets 13. These brackets are preferably ornamental in form, having seats 14 for the reception of the usual pintles. or gudgeons of the ordinary roller-shade and being also provided with outstanding hooks 15, that constitute the pole-engaging means.

These clamps are substantially duplicates and comprise upright bars having rearwardlyextending lugs 17, through which are threaded oppositely-disposed set-screws 18. The clamps are also provided with outstanding cars 19, one of the supporting-rods being attached to each ear and slidably passed through -an opening 20 of the other. The clamps are 1 other.

In applying the inn-proved holder to a window the clamps are arranged with the lugs embracing the upper-frame-piece, as illustrated in Fig. 2, and said clamps are moved toward or from each other to bring the hangerbrackets in proper position with relation to the sides of the window. When this position has been reached, the set-screws 18 are tightened, thus clamping the entire structure rigidly to the window-frame and at the same time securing the sections against relative movement. It will be apparent that an inexperienced person can apply this structure and that it may be readily elongated or contracted to the size of the window. The parts are simple and can be easily manufactured, and, furthermore, they do not mar the window-frame to any'appreciable extent.

From the foregoing it is thought that the construction,operation,and many advantages of the herein-described invention will be ap parent to those skilled in the art without further description, and it will be understood that various changes inthe size, shape, proportion, and' minor details of-construction may be resortedto without departing from the spirit or sacrificing-any of the advantages of the invention.

what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

In a holder. of the class described, the combination with overlapped slidably-associated supporting members, of a hanger member carried by the outer endof each supporting member, and separate securing devices attached to the inner ends of the supporting membersand movable toward and from each 2. In a holder of the class described, the combination with overlapped slidably-associ ated supporting members, of a securing device attached to the inner end of each supporting member and slidably associated with the other member, and a hanger-bracket attached to the outer end of each supporting member.

In a holder of the class described, the combination with slidably-associated support- ICO ing members, of a hanger-bracket attached to the outer end of each supporting member, and a securing device fastened to the inner end of each supporting member and designed being attached at the inner end to the ear of one clamp and slidably engaging the ear of the other clamp, the outer ends of the rods being split, and a hanger-bracket secured to the outer split end of each rod.

6. In a holder of the class described, the combination with overlapped supporting members, of a separate securing member carried by each supporting member and having a slidable engagement with the other supporting member, and hanger devices carried by the supporting members.
