TO ALL WHOM IT MAY OONCERN:

Be it known that I, J. S. COOK, of West Groton, iu the county of Middlesex, and- Stute of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Whips; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enuble those skilled in the art to makevztnd use the sume, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.

The present invention consists of an attachment to whip-sticks for receiving and holding the lash portion of the whip,- whereby the lash can freely turn upon the wl1ip-stiok, without winding around the stick, as is now the case with the lash when secured to the whip-stick by a string or strap.

In the accompanying plate of drawings my improved attachment is illustrated, the figure being a section through the same, with the whip-stick und lash in side view.

A, in the drawings, represents my improved attachment, which consists of a ferrule, or cap, or tip, B, having a. ring or eye, C, hung or swivclled to it. This fcrrule is to be secured to the end of the whip-stick by riveting, screws, or in any other proper manner, and to its swivel-ring or eye the whip-lush is to be secured by looping it, or in any other proper manner, this swivel-ring allowing the lash to play around upon the whip-stick without becoming wound upon the same, the advantage of which is obvious.

I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A whip having its lush secured or hung to its stick, through n. swivelfring or eye, substantially as` and for the purpose described.
