To all whom it may concern:

Be it known tbatI, ARTHUR A. MIDDLETON,

a citizen of the United States, residing at Ganey, in the county of Montgomery and State of Kansas, have invented-certain new and" useful Improvements in Display-Fronts for Drawers, &c.; and I do hereby'declare the following to be afull,.clear, and exactdescription of the invention, such as willenable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to new and useful immovements in display-boxes for drawers and drawer-frontsand means tor securing the drawer and releasing the same.

The invention consists, further, in various details of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts, which will be hereinafter fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claims.

My invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this application, and in which drawings similar letters of reference indicate like parts in the severalviews,-in which-- Figure 1 is a front elevation showing my display-front'as secured to a drawer-front. Fig. 2 is a side elevation showing the side of the drawer-front open and the display-front turned down with the drawer. Fig. 3isa sectional view on line 3 3 of Fig. 2,.and Fig. 4is a perspective view showing the attaching device carried by the drawer-front.

Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, 'A designates a cabi net which "may contain drawers of the ordinary construction or slides upon which drawer-fronts are secured, it being my purpose to apply my improved metallic displayreceptacle to various forms of drawer-fronts, fronts for shelving, &c. r

B designates the front, pivotally mounted upon slides C, which have elongated slots 0, that are adapted to slide between the opposite flanged edges of the strips D, which'are fastened on the inner walls of the casing of the cabinet. Said slides G are pivoted at C on the pins C carried at the lower ends of the shelf or drawer-front A. Hinged to the drawer-front B is a metallic framed displaybox E, having glass faces, and a pin (shown clearly in Fig. 3 of the drawings) has an eye 6 thereon, which pin is carried by the edge of the display-box and extends through an aperture e in the drawer-front and is adapted to .be engaged by means of a hook e which is mounted upon the inner face of the drawerfront, whereby the display-box may be locked against the outer face of the drawer.

Pivotally mounted in a recess in the under edgeof the drawer-front is an angle-lever F, to one end of-which is pivoted a link G,which in turn is pivoted at its lower end to a lever H, pi'votally mounted upon a pin 1. The free end of "said lever H' has an angled projection 1'', adapted to engage --in a' recess behind a plate K, projecting over a portion of said recess and fastened to the inner wall of the cabinet, as shown in the sectional'view of the drawings. An 'operating 'lever N is pivoted to said angle-lever F and is in convenient reach to be operated for throwing the angle-lever F from the pivot accordingly as it is desired to throw the free end of the locking-lever behind or free from the plate over the recess in the wall of the cabinet.

While I haveshow-n my display-box as applied to the drawer-front and also to a pivoted front mounted upon slides over a shelving, it will be understood that the metallic display-box may be applied to various other articles in which it maybe desired to form a front to disclose the contents of. the box or other receptacle to which it is attached, and I may make various alterations in the detailed construction of the apparatus without departing'from the spirit of my invention.

Having thus fullydescribed myinvention,

what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

l. A display-box for drawer-fronts, comprising a metallic framed receptacle, with transparent faces, hinged to the drawer-front, an eye on the free edge of the display-box, means for holding the same locked'to the drawer-front, and locking means for holding the drawer-front tothe cabinet, as set forth.

2. In combination with a cabinet, slides mounted within thesame, a pivoted drawerfront mounted on said slides, a display-box hinged to said front, and means for locking the display-box to said front, as set forth.
