IMPROVEMENT-IN STRINGING BOW- DRILL STOCKS.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY OONCERN:
Be it known that I, D. FRANK HARTFORD,`0` Boston, in theA county of Suffolk, and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in the Method of Stringing Bow-Drill Stocks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had tothe accompanying drawings, and tbeletters of' reference marked thereon. y
l The nature of my invention consiste in a. peculiar method of Stringing a bow-drill stock, and applies particularly to the bow-drill stock ,patented by ine, August 27, 1867, Patent'NiL 68,071.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construetion and use, In thedrawings- Figure is a. perspective view of my bow-drill stock.
Figure 2 shows 'in elevation vthe stem D'and-the pulleys AB, with the four stringsH H H" H" a.ttnched Figure 3 is a section of one of the pulleys.

YThe bow-drill stock isso arranged by means of the pulleys A B and their adjunct, that the reciprocating motion of the bow will produce a constant circular motion of the stem always in the same direction, as has been fully explained in the specific-ation of Letters Patent granted to me, August 27, 1867, and numbered 68,071.
The pulleys-A and B are each provided With two grooves, as shown in lig. 2. Each of' these grooves has string, one end of which is permanently attached to the pulley.
