Description

TO WHOM IT MAY. CONCERN:
Be it known that I, ALFRED DART, of Carbondale, in the `county of -Luze'ru'e,va.nd State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and improvedStove for Burning Gnlm and otherFuel andI do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being hadto the accompanying drawings,
forming part of this specification, and'in which- Figure 1 is a vertical elevation of my invention, a portion of the wall being broken awayl toushow the inte-v rior construct-ion of the stove..
' Figure 2 is a horizontal section of my invention through the line x, f
Figure 3 is the samethrough the line yy. e Similar letters of reference indicate Qorresponding'parts in the several figures.
In this invention the stove isfsoconstructed thatthe fu'ol will bve'burned-in thinstrata, inorder that oxygen may pass freely through it and' thereby` better keep up combustion. Y
` In order that others skilled in the art to which, my invention appertains maybe enabled to make and usethe same, I will proceed to describe it in detail.
Inthe drawings, A represents the outside -wall of my improve means of several pipes G Gr G, arranged. in acircle around a largepipe, F, which extends -from the fire-pot through the chamber E tothe top o f the s .tovew.here it is 'provdedwith a cover, Ii.4 The bottomof the firepotD is fornied` by the grate .H, a common horizontally-vibratipg or shaking-grate,- in which there is but one new featu e, namely, a cone, I, rising from its centre to the'top of thel 'fire-pot, directly under the pipe'fF,and
corrugated or provided with several w'ingsfz' it', which'project out from its sides among. thffuel. -.K is a tine; through 'which the gases, smoke, &c., escape to the chimney.A Mis an ash-chamber under fthe grate.'
- The object of my invention is to procureas complete a combustion vas possible, together with the utmost attainable radiation of heat. The latteris lsecuredgby-the'above-described construction, in which the heat is I radiatedfrom the tire-pot D, chamberE, pipes 'F and Gr Gr G, and the whole 'outer wall and top of thesto've formy ing an extent of radiating-'surface not tobe found lin any other `now in use. The former is secured chiefly by the low, flat, wide shape of the fire-pot, and by the central cone I, which forces the burning fuel out against the walls ofnthe fire-pot. The fuel is fed through vthe central pipe-,x and as it biirns away in the irefpot it presses down from the pipe and keeps the supply of fuel good -for a long period.l .The pipe F is intendedA to befrom one-thirdto one-half the diameter of the fire-pot D, and the chamber E, The diameter of the pipes Grv G will vary according tothe number 'of them used.
Having thus described my inventio`r|,"what I claim as neng-and desire to secure'by :Letters` Patent, is#- The. central cone I, when providedwith the wings z'z', andV attached to the grate, substantially 'as'aud for thePurpose specied. i v
