SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No; 721,148, dated. February 24, 1903.
Application filed May 26, 1902. Serial No. 108,976. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern..-
Be it known that I, CORNELIUS OAMPIoN, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Tunbridge, in the county of Orange and State of Vermont, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hymn-Books; and I do hereby declare the following to be a 'full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appert-ains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to hymn and other similar books; and it consists in the novel construction and combination of the parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a front View of the hymn-book. Fig. 2 is a partial front View showing the coin-pocket with the flap raised. Fig. 3 is a cross-section taken on the line or a; in Fig. 2.
A is a hymn-book or prayer-book or any other similar book which is frequently carried in the hand, and B is one member of its cover. This cover member is provided with a slot 19 in one of its corners, and o'is a back piece secured to the inside of the cover memher and forming a pocket or receptacle for a hinged to the top edge of the cover member B and provided with a fastening-tongue d, which is inserted through a small slot 6 in the cover member B. Any other approved fastening device'may, however, be used for securing the flap, so as to prevent the coin from falling out of place.
What I claim is 1. The combination, with a bookcover member provided with a slot in one corner and a back piece secured behind the slot and forming a coin-receptacle, of a flap for the coin-receptacle hinged to the said cover member, and means for securing the said flap in its closed position, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination, with a book cover member provided with a coin-slot in one corner, a fastening-slot beneath the coin-slot, and a back piece secured behind the coinslot-and forming a coin-receptacle, of a flap for the coin-receptacle hinged to the said cover member and provided with a tongue for engaging with the said fastening-slot, substantially as set forth.
