BASE FOR SAUSAG E-iVllLLS OR THE LIKE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters .Patent No. 717,226, dated December 30, 1902.
Application filed May 13, 1902.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, CHARLES W. LIEBIOH, of the city of St. Louis, State of Missouri, have invented certain .new and useful Improvements in Bases for Sausage-Mills or the Like, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof.
My object is to construct an improved base for sausage-machines and the like, so that the machines may be rigidly secured to a table and readily removed from the table when desired; and my invention consists of a socket adapted to be secured to the table-top or other suitable support, a base-plate adapted to be secured to the feet or bottom of the machine and adapted to engage said socket, and means of removably connecting the base-plate to the socket as designated in the appended claim.
Figure 1 is a top plan view of the base, the legs of the machine being shown in section. Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the base, the legs of the machine being broken away.
Referring to the drawings in detail, the socket consists of the side pieces 3, 4, and 5, arranged in the form of a square, open on one side, the inner faces of said side pieces having a V-shaped or dovetail groove 6. The ends of the side pieces 3 and 5 are farther apart at theopen side of the socket than at the closed side, so as to make opening slightly wedgeshaped. The base-plate 7 is of the proper size and shape to fit the socket and has an edge 8 on three sides to fit in the groove 6, said plate being wedge-shaped also, so as to slide easily into or out of' the socket. A latch-pin 9 extends upwardly from the center of the side piece 4, and a latch 10 is pivoted to the base-plate 7 in position to engage the latch-pin and hold the base-plate in the socket. The feet 11 of the sausage-machine or the like are secured to the base-plate by means of the cap-screws 12. The said V- Serial No. 107,200. (No model.)
shaped groove in the pieces 3, 4, and 5 is located a distance above the said support 13, so that the said base-plate 7 will be located a distance above said support. This construction is provided so that there will be space between the said base-plate and the said support, within which the head of the latch-pivot is located and may slide back and forth therein whenever said base-plate is moved.
The machine is rigidly secured to the baseplate. The socket is rigidly secured to the support 13, and the base-plate slides into the socket and is secured by the latch. When it is desired to remove the machine for cleaning or other purposes, the latch is disengaged from the latch-pin and the base-plate removed with the machine.
I claim- The improved machine-base, comprising the side pieces 3, 4 and 5 in rectangular relation and having their inner faces provided with a V-shaped groove 6 and all adapted to be secured to a support such as 13, said groove being located a distance above said support;
in combination with the base-plate '7 having a V-shaped marginal edge to fit said V-shaped groove in said side pieces, and thereby sup ported a distance above the said support 13; a latch-pin 9 extending upwardly from the center of said side piece 4, the hook 1O pivoted to the said base-plate and adapted to engage the said latch-pin to hold the said baseplate in position, the head of the latch-pivot being located in the space between said baseplate and said support; and the machineframe 11 fixed upon the said base-plate, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES W. LIEBIOH.
