SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 716,673, dated December 23, 1902.

Be it known that I, ROBERT D. ORANSTON, a citizen of the United States, residing'at Reading, in the county of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lamp-Globe Holders;

' and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of theinvention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. v

This invention relates to improvements in lamp-globe holders; and the object of the -in-' vention is to overcome the danger of the globe being knocked or tilted from the holder.

The invention consists in forming the flange of the globe with a series of slots adapted to engage tongues on the holder.

The invention is fully described in the following specification, and clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is an elevation showing a lamp globe in position in myim proved holder. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the holder itself.

The holder A may be of any desired form, preferably circular, the outer portion a there of being adapted to receive the flange of the globe. This portion a, of the holder is formed; with a series of equidistant integral projec tions 12, which projections are bent upward at right angles to the face of the holder andin-' ward toward the vertical center of the holder and then bent back on themselves to form spring-tongues Z), as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings.

The globe B may be of any shape or size and is formed with a flaring month or flange e at its bottom adapted to rest on the portion a on the holder A. This flaring mo nth or flange of the globe is formed with a series of equidistant slots f, corresponding in number and distance with the proj ections on the holder and adapted to register therewith. When the globe is placed in position on the holder, the slots f will when the globe is turned thereon registhe holder is perfectly fiat, and the globe is held entirely in position by the spring-tongues h on the projections 19. The easy removal of the globe of course is evident.

Having thus fully described the invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

A device of the class described consisting of a body portion provided'with a flat unobstruct ed'upper face, and a plurality of projections integral therewith, each of said projections ex- ,tending upward from the periphery thereof and at an angle to the plane of the upper face,

said projections inclining toward the diametric center of the holder and being bent back upon/themselves to form spring-tongues, and a'globe provided with a month or flaring flange, a, plurality of slots in the flange adapted to allow the projections to pass therethrough and the spring-tongues to engage the outer face of the flanged mouth at points intermediate said slots.
