SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent N 0. 716,152, dated December 16, 1902.
Application filed April 1, 1902. Serial No. 100,955. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, DAVID S. WATSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Polo, in the county of Ogle and State of Illinois, have inventedcertain new and useful Im provements in Adjustable Door-Hangers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention has for its object to provide a new and improved adjustable door-hanger which is simple in construction, efficient in operation, and so constructed as to enable the door to be elevated for the purpose of counteracting sagging. This can be readily done by tightening the screw at the top of the improved device, as will be clearly seen in the drawings.
With this obj ect in view the invention consists of the details of construction and arrangement, which will more fully appear hereinafter.
In the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this application, Figure 1 is a perspective View of the hanger constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view.
Like numerals and letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both views.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral 1 indicates the body-plate 1of the hanger, the upper or free end of which is bent back upon itself, forming a U-shaped bracket or hanger 2, in which is mounted a pulley-wheel 3, the said pulley-wheel 3, adapted to run upon a horizontal rod, which is attached to the barn or dwelling and is placed in a suitable position at the top of the door-opening. The said pulley-wheel is keyed to the shaft 0., the ends of which pass through and are rotative in the longitudinal slots b, which are situated in the U-shaped bracket 2'of the said hanger.
the sides of the U-shaped bracket 2. An interiorly-threaded opening 0 is provided at the curved upper portion of said bracket for the reception of the operating-screw d, which will be further mentioned hereinafter. G is a stirrupfitting over the U-shaped bracketed end of said body-plate and has perforations in its ends through which passes the end of the shaft to. A second interiorly-threaded open ingf is provided in the said stirrup G and is in alinement with the threaded opening a, so as to allow the operatingscrew d to work therein. The said operating-screw is provided with a milled head on for convenience in turning the same.
It will be seen that the device is simple and inexpensive in construction, that it can be readily adjusted to counteract sagging, and that it is easily operated.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In a hanger for doors, the combination of a body-plate the free end thereof terminating in a U-shaped bracket, and having an interiorly-threaded opening therein, and having longitudinal slots, a shaft the ends of which project through said slots and is rota- .tive in same, a pulley-wheel keyed to said shaft, a stirrup G, fitting over the ends of the said bracket, and also provided with an interiorly-threaded opening and journal-bearings for the wheel-axle, and said openings being in alinement with each other, an operating-screw having a milled head seated in said threaded openings, substantially as set forth and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
DAVID S. WATSON.
