SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 716,024, dated December 16, 1902.
Application filed February 20, 1902. Serial No. 94,961. o odel-) To all whom it may concern.-
Be itknown that I, SAMUEL H. Fnosna citizen of the United States, residing at Franklin, in the county of Norfolk and State of Massachusetts,have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Harness; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear,
and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to harness; and it consists of a fastening device forengaging with the vehicle-shaft, as hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a front view of the fastening device. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectionthrough the fastening device.

What I claim is- 1. The combination, with abuckle having a hook-shaped extension pro'videdwith a forked end portion and a cross-baradjacent to it,
of a curved tongue pivoted to the buckle at one end and provided with an eye at the other end,said tongue engaging with the said forked end portion, and a strap for drawing the said eye and cross-bar toward each other, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination, with a buckle having a plate provided with a hole and having also a hook-shaped extension provided with a forked end portion and a cross-bar adjacent to it, of a curved tongue having a hook at one end which engages with the said hole and pivots the tongue to the buckle, said tongue engaging with the said forked end portion and having an eye-at its other end, and a strap for drawing the said eye and cross-bar toward each other, substantially as set forth.
