Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l 74,124, dated February 29, 1876; application filed January 12, 1876.
To all whom it 4may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE C. EASTMAN,
of Lewiston, of the county of Androscoggin and State of Maine, have made a new and useful invention having reference to Carriage- Harness/ or {Phill-Supporters; and do hereby declare the same to be-fully described in the following specification and represented'in the v accompanying drawings, of Which- Figure 1 is a side view, Fig. 2 an edge elevation, and Fig. 3 a longitudinal section, ot' a shaftsupporter provided with my invention.
In carrying ont such invention I make the shaft-supporter Aa part for receiving andv supporting two straps, B C, not only with two eyes, d b, at its extremes or ends, but with two intermediate clasps, c d, and a stud, c, the latter being arranged betweenthe clasps and' projected from the convex surface or edge of the shaft-supporter, in manner as shown. The hanger or supportingstrap B goes through the upper eye a, and thence through vthetwo clasps, and has in it one or more holes, f, to
receive the stud e, the rst or other strap going through or being fastened to it in the eye b.
By having `the clasps and the stud to the shaft-supporter, all necessity of a Abuckle to its upper part is avoided, and the shaft-supporter can be set higher relatively to the saddle. In this case the curved half of the shaftsupporter and its appliances answer the purpose of a buckle and means oi' connecting the GEORGE C. EASTMAN.
