ATTACHMENT FOR GAS lOfi GASOLENE STOVES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 712,9S8, dated November 4, 1902.
` Application tied-Noventa 21.1901. s111111] No. 83,111. (No matti.)
To @ZZ whom it may concern:
Be itknown that I, THOMAS Rawson WAR- REN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Glendale, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attacliments for Gas or Gasolene Stoves; and Ido declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains lo make and use the same.
The invention relates to an attachment for a gas Aor gasolene stove.
The object ofthe invention is to Yprovide a device of this character which shall be simple of construction, durable in use, and comparatively inexpensive of production, and which may be readily attached to the top of a gas or gasolene stove, and which shall be of such construction that the heat from one burner, when but one burner is in use, may be diffused or deflected under the top of the attachment, whereby plates or cooking utensils'placed upon the top of said attachment may be subjected to the heat of said burner.
With these and other objects in View the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination, and arrangement of parts, which will be hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure lis a top plan View of the attachment. Fig. 2 is a cross-section on line 0o fc, andFig. 3 is alonf.
immediately above the burners, are provided with downwardly-projecting conical deflectors, so that the heat from said burners will be deiiected in all directions, thus heating the plates and cooking utensils placed upon the top of the attachment or in the holes thereof. The lids may be supported in any suitable manner-as, for instance, by riveting to the under side of the top of the attachment short straps or lugs 7'.
The attachment is provided, preferably, with a partition 72, which extends across the same, so that the heat vmay be confined to one side of the attachment when only that portion thereof is needed inl cooking, and thereby saving the heat which Would otherwise be defiected or spread under that portion of the attachment not in use.
In order to keep the top of the attachment perfectly straight, I provide a series of spacingsleeves S, which are placed between the under side of the top of the attachment and the upper side of the-plate of the stove, and through these sleeves and through the top of the attachment and the plate of the stove are inserted bolts 9, the lower ends of which are provided with nuts l0. This construction will hold the top of the attachment perfectly straight and prevent it from sagging or bulging, owing to theheat to which it is subjected. v
From the foregoingdescription, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction, mode of operation, and advantages of my invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
Various changes in the form, proportion, and details of construction may be made within the scope of the invention without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages thereof.
Having thus described my-invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination with a gas or gasolene stove provided with burner-openings; of a hollow, flanged, partitioned heatingattachment detachably connected to the upper surface portion of the stove and having openings arranged inline with the openings of the stove, and. equidistant-arrangedstraps connected to the body portion of the attachment' having free ends extending 'part Way across the openings of the attachment, and lids adapted to rest on said extended ends of said IOO straps, and the said lids `having: downwardlyl In testimony whereof I have hereunto set projecting conical-shaped deectors to coaet my hand in presence of two subscribing witwith the burners of the stove through the menesses.
dum of the stove-openings, and adapted to THOMAS RAWSON WARREN. 5 distribute the heat to the hollow portion of Witnesses:
said attachment, substantially as and for the W. E. FARR,
purpose specied. B. F. PATTERSON.
