PARET, of Nashville, in the county of Davidson, and State of Tennessee, have invented a new and improved 'Blacking-Brush; and I do hereby declare that lche lfollowing is afull, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the a'rt to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming partei' this specification.
This invention relates to an limproved 'slacking-brush, and consists in passing an endless elastic bandcrosswise through four staples upon thc back of the brush-stock, vto hold thebox of blacking, and in agroove along the side ofthe'stock to receive a scraper. u

A is the brush-stock, in the side whereoi,` is a groove, in which slides the metal scraper B, held in place by i the spring C. D D are four staples or hooks, through which, after passing through the lloop 'F,the endless elastic band E is passed crosswise. The hooks or staples D are constructed so as to leave a small space between the hook and theshank through which thel elastic band is slipped, which, when broken, can be easily replaced by another band in the same manner. The band being raised by the loop F, the blocking-box is placed beneath it, and held by it in the position shown in the drawing.
